Haven't had the losing connection problem all that often, although I will agree the times it did happen, I usually had consumables equipped. Then again, I rarely use level 3 consumables and haven't ever used a level 4... so that doesn't disprove your theory.

@robar I owe you an apology. This statement is untrue, I actually have very little data on your mom's butt.

I've lost about thirty level 3 items tonight and last night. About half disconnects, half wrong difficulty. After I'd lose some I'd get more cautious and put on lower level stuff and then of course the game would go well.

I don't know if I'd call it exhausted but I'm pretty tired of losing good stuff.

This. I have no idea why people still bother searching with equipment on.

 

I always search with a character that can contribute without equipment (mostly infiltrators), in case I get dropped into a BSN lobby or something.

My present solution: put on the best consumables that you don't care about losing. (For some of us that's level 1 stuff, for others it's level 3.) Then search. If you get dropped into a GiP you have something at least. If you get into a decent lobby, take a moment and upgrade your consumables to the good stuff.

 

Or, as FullSpe3D says, search with a character that can play well sans consumables. I also do this with the BPP Vorcha Soldier, Expert Package equipped. If I get a GiP, I'm still gonna be able to burn some ****.

Just make sure at least one of your weapons has armor piercing, and you're golden.

I have a great deal of empirical data that confirms your theorem.  I would add my own personal observation that the highest probability of disconnects seems to occur with level IV gear equipped on gold at wave 9 and only when all is going extremely well.
