Question 1: Will the FOI Armor and weapons, upgrade with level-up?

Question 2: The screenshot for the FOI weapons, shows them engulfed in flames. Will the armor / mount will also be engulfed in flames?

*****

I would really like if the preorder bonus weapons, will upgrade with level-up. Staff of Parlathan was the best looking staff in DA2 and we could only use it till Act 1.

It would be great if we can keep using those weapons, unless we find something trully amazing.

And if the armor and mount is on flames continuously, it will look... hmmm... It might look kick ass... or it might look really stupid... I dont know...

I have one to add with you.  I don't know the answers though, sorry.

Can a horned qunari wear the FOI Helm?  If not does the content have a head armor for them?

If I remember correctly, the Staff or Parlathan was a Promotional Item, and it clearly did not level up. I don't think I've ever seen armor level up in the games either. There are still some Level up weapons in DA2 that level with your characters, including accessories, but even then, that's about all there is to the leveling up items from that game.

So, to answer your question, no one knows, as of yet, until the release of the game, as to whether they actually implemented an "Armor Leveling" stat alongside that of the DA2's system of Accessories/Weapons stat leveling.

Though, I admit, I did have a liking to those items in DA2, and wish there had been more of them.

Blood dragon would change its type if you put it in the Warden Chest I think in DA:O

But ya nobody really knows, I don't think they've said all that much about these.  I don't think the mounts are on fire though, since they aren't really fire of the inquisition mounts, just Red Halla, Bog Unicorn, and whatever the other one was.

These weapons are incredibly detailed... it would be a shame if they were rendered useless a few hours into the game.  If they level along with the PC, I'm definitely handing the extras out to my favorite companions as a reward/badge of honor.

Actually it was the Warden Commander Armor and Cailan's Armor that could be upgraded (along with a few other bits from the DLCs), the Blood Dragon Set was always Silverite. Still an awesome set though.

@OP:

I certainly hope the Flames of the Inquisition gear remains useful throughout the game. I really didn't like how DA2 handled weapon stats (I tend to prefer fixed stats, like DA:O). That "Improves with Level Up" affix on the DLC weapons was a great addition imo.

slightly related they said varric cant equip any other weapons, so i assume atleast Bianca scales like it did in DA2.

Uh.... wait, he can equip daggers, right?  Or are you just referring to ranged weapons?

I believe he still can use daggers, but he can't lose Bianca.

Yeah, that matches what I heard last... he can only use Bianca but he can still potentially wield daggers and learn dual weapon talents.  I was worried for a second...

I'm pretty sure all armor would change armor level if you put it in the wardens chest and return, because i remember putting a silverite templar plate in and getting a dragonbone one of the times i took it back out.

I don't have an exact source, but I've been stalking every scratch of DA News and I definitely recall them saying something along the lines of "IF you like the appearance of *said weapon/armor* you can still use it and upgrade the stats of *weapon/armor* via the new crafting system. I'm assuming we can either add materials to whatever and keep the appearance and/or we can use the appearance as a sort of template/skin for a newly crafted weapon.

IN any case, it will depend with how the crafting works becuase I remember this being said when somebody asked "If I like the look of this weapon/armor, can I level it up to keep wearing it" question. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure we can level it up manually via the crafting system.

As for your second Question, I don't think so, not an official answer, but could you imagine how excessive that would look xD I mean people are already complainign about the VFX of the sustainables, I could only imagine if there was a constant VFX for flaming armor/mount. Still would look somewhat badass.

I assume we can upgrade the DLC gear so it stays relevant throughout the entire game, should we wish to do so.

to be honest i hope not. i always like changing gear and getting new upgrades. plus i think all the devs that put time into making all the other skins and such would be pissed to see everyone who preorderd/deluxe just equipped the same gear for the whole game.

It's already been explained multiple times that every piece of gear in the game is upgradeable. Like the look of a low level armor? Just enchant/enhance it's stats through the crafting system. Same will go for the FoI items, if that's not the case, you can have my left sock.

The sword, will it just revert to say a 1h if you go sword or shield or does it have to be 2h?

Or would you lose the sword if went from say 2h to 1h? as the size would be different and will just react to the spec you pick?

I'm not sure what you're asking. There's one weapon per category in the FoI set. So there's a 1H and 2H sword along with a shield.

I'm also going to say that the set is on fire to reflect a highly likely built in fire enchantment. The screenshot of the Inquisitor holding the sword has it not on fire, which I assume it will look like normally.

Sorry I am trying to say if I went with sword and shield spec, the sword would be one handed, yet if later I changed to a 2h spec would the sword then become 2h? or would I lose it because I originally picked it to be a 1h sword?

Not sure if I am making sense?

They're separate swords, why would the stats transfers because you changed your mind about something? You could most likely craft the 2H sword to match your previous 1H stats however.

I'm hoping they don't level with you. We should have a reason to change weapons periodically, keeps it interesting. Scaling weapons keep it boring.
