Um, this is strictly pedantic at this point, but staff of Parlathan and other DLC gear did level up in DA2.  At least in the version I got.  Did I get lucky for once and stumble on an amazing fluke?  No, just not happening.

I'm totally cool for bonus items that are only useful at low levels.  Hopefully, by the time I've got better stuff (much better   maybe) I won't need them anymore.  It's all very minor, so either way, it's OK, but a little edge is nice.

. I don't think I've ever seen armor level up in the games either.

Actually I believe certain armors from class item packs leveled up though I'm not 100% sure

If I remember correctly, the Staff or Parlathan was a Promotional Item, and it clearly did not level up. I don't think I've ever seen armor level up in the games either. There are still some Level up weapons in DA2 that level with your characters, including accessories, but even then, that's about all there is to the leveling up items from that game.

So, to answer your question, no one knows, as of yet, until the release of the game, as to whether they actually implemented an "Armor Leveling" stat alongside that of the DA2's system of Accessories/Weapons stat leveling.

Though, I admit, I did have a liking to those items in DA2, and wish there had been more of them.

i must admit, the design for the sword is awesome, if i can customise that so it stays good stat wise, i will porbably stick with that through most of the game

I think we upgrade weapons during crafting.

Maybe we can customize the look of weapons the same way we can customize the look of the armours?

I don't know if they will, but for me that's not as much of a concern as it was in DA:O and DA2, since you can craft and customize your own weapons, armor, etc., according to what I've seen so far, so I think you'll have a lot more general control over the cosmetics of your equipment this time.  At least, I hope I've understood that correctly.
