Yes, these are the things that happen on the server and not the client and why we don't support "offline" multiplayer like this.

I was hoping you'd have configured like the Neverwinter Vault (which I don't think ever went live), where valid characters would check in and out and only those valid characters could be used in public games.

Really? I should consider that people can't put 2+2. I know a lot of people that played DAO or DA2 did not play ME3, which doesn't mean that they can't do a little research. One or two videos or even a review will tell you how it works.

And about the connectivity. I don't know where you live, but I live in a backwater country called India. And I connect over 3G. Except a few exceptions, Multiplayer works great. So yeah, Bioware servers are pretty robust. There is no need to worry.

Just so you know, I'm from India as well(funny how I should get the snide treatment from a fellow countryman). Regardless of your internet connection speed, there will always be a significant amount of latency(usually 300ms) when connecting to servers half way around the world. I wanted clarification if we are the ones who get to play hosts or if it will be EA servers that do that. And by the way, that's also not something you can find out by watching a gameplay video.

Neither you nor I, know exactly how DA:I MP will work because this isn't ME MP. Just because they've taken some things from ME 3 doesn't mean one should assume that it's going to be exactly the same. You should get over yourself and consider these things before spouting your condescending BS.

Anyway, it seems as though the EA servers are only used for data collection and not as the dedicated servers we join(which is good). So the problem is more or less non-existent for me.

Sorry that it's not the specifically tailored model of MP you wanted, but to say it's not player friendly when the ME MP was played by people all over the world is a bit exaggerated.

I never said it wasn't player friendly, only that it could be more player friendly. And just because I asked for an option doesn't mean I immediately proclaim that the MP should be focused around my interests. About the connectivity issues thing. What I meant by that was ping. You can have a perfectly stable connection to a server but still face problems simply because you're too far away from the server.

There will be no direct IP entry option as that is basically what happens when a friend invites you to join an MP game. The person inviting is the host and you are the client and the connection takes place just as if you typed in his/her IP.

There are no dedicated servers for Dragon Age Multiplayer.

Appreciate the response Derek. I am glad to know that is how it works because I'd hate to be a slave to a dedicated server and have to deal with high latency. Now I can play the co-op without any issues. I don't mind being connected to Origin all the time to get my stats recorded. Too bad there's no offline option though, being able to do local co-op runs would've been fun.
