The playing field is level as soon as the rules are thr same.

I play Alpha Centauri quite a bit. The difficulty settings there are well documented (there are 7), and level 3 is the one whereunder the rules apply to everyone equally.

I always play on that setting. And I basically always win. I'm not looking for a challenge; I'm looking for fairness.

Your concern is only relevant if someone wants both equal rules and a significant challenge. Is there such a person?

Thge vast majority of people want a good game experience that includes a bit of challenge and could not care less about equal rules.  You want equal rules but that does not make it an even playing field at all.  Human actions will be better than computer AI the vast majority of the time, it is not a level playing field to begin with.  Your actions are actually maintaining an unlevel playing field.

Is it an uneven playing field when a good sports team plays a bad sports team? The good team will almost always win, but the rules are the same.

Unless you think that all real-world sporting events that don't end in ties are unfair, your position makes no sense.

I wouldn't use the MP because it is a different system with different maps, a Dev could create the greatest and most entertaining encounter ever in MP it does not mean that it would even work in SP. If they are taking SP encounters and testing them in MP so they are fun in MP and not testing them in SP to save time then I fear the SP encounters will not be as good as they can be and that we will see the MP influence on them.

YOU wouldn't... but obviously the people creating the game thought it was worthwhile to use both test methods.

They didn't say they didn't test those encounters in SP, only that MP offered an additional venue for testing.  Combat AI, what enemies work well together for difficulty purposes, or even the fight mechanics - it doesn't mean they changed the encounter itself to fit MP over SP.

I really don't get what's so difficult to understand about it?

Whether they tested encounters with SP and MP the fact is that MP has had an effect on the SP game, Bioware have constantly gone out of their way to say they have totally separate teams working on MP and SP games, and that if they do choose to have MP that the MP will have no effect on the SP game.

It doesn't matter if MP helps make a better SP or if it makes for a worse SP, the fact that MP has had an effect on SP after all the promises that Bioware made about MP makes me wonder how many other systems and features have been changed because of MP or what has been designed for the SP with MP in mind.

For this game and all other games they make Bioware should stop with the falsehood that the MP and SP teams are separate and that MP has no effect on SP and say from the beginning that if they have MP in the game that the SP game will be effected by it and that features or systems from SP will be changed by testing on MP.
