I've seen this topic being discussed so many times in different areas, but it's now my time to use this feature.

I guess I should of noted it down while there was an active thread :P

I need to be able to attack cows in my module. Of course I can, but they aren't hostile back. Is it possible to change on "OnAttack" script to change it's faction to hostile?

Current state: I attack a cow and it just stats there/walks around without acknowledging me

What I'm looking for: Cow is neutral/friendly to me, but once I attack, it attacks back.

Make a custom faction that is neutral to the PC's faction.  It must be neutral, as the attack option does not appear for friendly targets (when you right click them).  The default OnPhysicallyAttacked script should cause the creature to fight back, but you can script a custom response if you need to.

I have my own OnPhysicallyAttacked scripts for neutral factions that do all sorts of additional things (making fellow group members hostile, calling reinforcements via an encounter trigger, etc), but a quick-and-dirty method is to replace the default OnPhysicallyAttacked script with one of the existing 'go hostile' scripts. Filter the script names with the words 'go_hostile' and two should show up.

EDIT:

The two 'go_hostile' scripts only differ as to how they define oPC to reduce the reputation of the creature. Since changing to a hostile faction already does that, the two scripts basically do the same thing.

I use them for testing creature blueprints. I change the test creature's faction to a custom neutral one, change the OnSpawn script to gb_wanderer_sp so they'll move around, and change the OnPhysicallyAttacked script to one of the 'go_hostile' scripts. That way I can examine the creature from various angles and see how it looks moving about, then I attack it when I want to test its combat abilities.

You guys should collaborate on a script in which the cow blows cow-patties on the attacker. --Custom content.

Why?

Why?

Why not? :P It's in the same ball park as this effort of mine.

Personally, I'd set the cows to be cowards and have them drop slippery cow pats behind them as they run away, like an impromptu grease spell. Or perhaps release a 'stinking cloud'.

Ha ha. It's the way animals defend themselves in real life. Those animations sound great!
