Alright, if I try to play Mass Effect, it crashes after about 1-20 Minutes.
Both of my monitors turn a weird color and the PC freezes, I monitored the temperature of my GPU and it goes up to about 67°C.
Some specs of my PC:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600

GeForce 8800GTX

2 x 1GB DDR2

Asus P5N32-E SLI

Win7

I don't hat this Problem on Dragon Age, don't have it on Crysis (very high) either.

Soo, I dunno what to do, really.

Steam version, by the way.

Well...hard to compare the other two games as they are different game engines, but, I would ensure you have the latest graphics, sound and motherboard drivers. Then, test your ram.

Got the latest graphics drivers, the sound card is kinda.. on board and well I'm using the one on my USB headset (maybe I should try it without that headset for once...). Gonna see with the motherboard driver and test my ram tomorrow.

Are your fans/cooling system by your video card working.

I had a similar problem the other day when I was playing mass effect, turns out the fan by my card had stopped working.

had exact same issue. Text gets all screwed up, game hasn't crash just looks really 'high'? Impossible to see/do anything.

ME doesn't really support the 8000 series of nVidia cards everyone i know who has tried with a 8800 GTS, GT, or GTX have all had this issue. If you havent already get the patch for it thats what fixed mine, and don't ferget them drivers too.

Uh yeah, I've got the steam version so.. I suppose it's updated already.

I could try to buy a retail version and try that again.

Nevermind, the patch didn't fix it (It should have been up to date anyway).

It most likely is your card overheating...can you test your GPU temps? Download a program called Everest which will test your PC temps.

well, why don't you post a DXDIAG at this point, before giving up so easily. It could be anything...I suspect a driver, but you never know unless you are willing to troubleshoot.

First thing that jumps out to me is that you are missing NForce Nvidia motherboard drivers...look under "System Devices"....each entry has an "N/A" under driver version.

I tried messing around with the sound card etc, nothing's helping.
I can play for about 5 minutes and that's it.

EDIT;
Neither installing old drivers (182.06) nor using another resolution fixed anything.
Weird thing, it's always crashing at the same spot, kinda.

Have you tried reinstalling the game? I would uninstall, run the utility "ccleaner" and fix the registry and clean your drive...then, defrag your hard drive. Then, reinstall with patches.



Try it then and see what you come up with.

Guess I'll just try to find it for the XBOX... even though I'd rather play with the keyboard and mouse..

Hmm...someone mentioned issues with Nvidia drivers which is the only thing I can think of. If you get all kinds of corruption in game, it usually is a graphics driver issue. Perhaps using a legacy driver from around the time the game shipped? Worth a try at least. And, comparing it to other games won't help much...different game engine. Perhaps if it was another game using the Unreal 3 engine, you would have a point, but Crysis and DAO don't use that engine.

Well, I tried the "glorious" 182.06 driver that's suppoed to fix the issues.

No luck.

Alright, Unreal 3 engine game.. what about Unreal Tournament 3? I can run that just fine.

Aside from a new card, you tried everything I would have. If you can ensure everything is completely up to date in your system, you have a defrag'ed hard drive, clean registry, don't run anything in the background while playing the game, etc., then you might be out of luck.

If it means anything...I had nothing but problems with my Nvidia 8800 512...mostly driver related. Every new driver from Nvidia would fix one game and break another that was working. Since moving to ATI (got an HD4890), I haven't looked back.

Oh, I got it fixed by the way, well I guess.

I'm playing for about an hour now, no problems.

I UNDERclocked my card.

The Temperatur is the same, it's just underclocked.

A friend told me that because it worked for him on dragon age.

Well, weird solution but it worked.
