So now that we know that the Arcane Warrior is a male elf, any predictions on the last rogue?
I'm thinking that it will be a guys since there are 2/2 in each class and there's already two rogue ladies. And, given that Hall is the only ranged rogue, I'm thinking he'll be ranged in some capacity.
We've got 2 humans, 1 dwarf, 1 elf, and 1 qunari so far from the guys. It could go any way regarding his race.
Maybe a cartel thug dwarf with a crossbow? Or a Tal-Vashoth or Qunari with a throwing spear? I'd say that a Dalish hunter is out since Hall was raised by a Dalish hunter, so that seems redundant.

I like your throwing spear idea.

Pretty sure the last Rogue will be a melee with gadgets/tricks similar to the Alchemist.
The pattern seems to be 1:1, as I mentioned before, in keeping with similar roles. The Assassin and Archer are purely damage with likely little in the way of control while the Alchemist and the last Rogue will likely be heavy on control/debuffing with the ability to inflict damage as well.

But the Alchemist is melee with gadgets and tricks. So you are suggesting that there will be two melee with gadgets characters, one melee "damage", and one ranged "damage"? That doesn't seem balanced at all. Maybe if you were saying the he's ranged with gadgets and tricks, that would make sense with your 1:1 argument.

Tried looking up "Katari" in the Qunlat language on the Dragon Age wiki. Doesn't include that exact term, buuut...
Between that, the physical appearance, and the big ol' two-handed axe in the picture, I'm betting that "Katari" will turn out to mean "executioner."

So beast! I love her mask and appearance. Mages and Fighters are cool but I fell in love with Rogues & Assassins the first time I played D&D.Nerd Appropriate @NerdAppropriate

Well actually the Alchemist is simply assumed to be melee with gadgets/tricks. Unless someone playing the demo can say otherwise, the daggers might just be on there.

So the sword and shield warriors have a sword and shield. And the two-handed warriors have a two-handed weapon. And the mages have mage staffs. And the archer has a bow. And the other dual wield rogue has two daggers. And the Alchemist has a two daggers, but isn't dual wield?

Only 4 ability slots apparently.
Has anyone ben able to confirm this? I count 7 unique icons used by the archer in the IGN video; are they upgrades? 1:21 has winged arrow, arrow burst, a shuriken-looking thing, Long Shot, ability icon on left side of tree; we also see him using trap icon and backflip icon earlier. Only 4 active selected out of 7+? Lol?

yeah its been confirmed, my guess is it will be customizable what you can put in your ability slots, and it will be primarily attacks and sustained abilities over pure passives.

Apparently, the rest are for expendable equipment. Possibly bombs and such.

Ah. I figured as much before I noticed that there were excess ability icons in the menu.

Do we know how long a match is, or at least average guess?

About 20-30 minutes, the devs have said

So, we are playing as specific characters? That's really cool. Arcane Warrior looks good.

Hunter seems kind of redundant with Archer
#96
Posté 31 août 2014 - 08:42
I'm wondering if the hunter will be a ranged stealth character to differentiate him from the Archer, who will be a traditional ranged damage character.
#97
Posté 31 août 2014 - 08:50
Hunter probably has stealth and traps/poisons while Archer has pure bow abilities.

In terms of mechanics, yeah. I more meant thematically.

Since the Hunter is shown with dagger and bow, I'm wondering if he's some kind of hybrid class. Every character has 2 spec trees, maybe he's got a Marksman and Duelist tree?

Hunter abilities appear to include backflip-looking icon (I believe that's Evade?), the arrow shot that looks like Bursting Arrow from DA2, the arrow icon that looks like Well-Oiled from DA2, and a trap. Archer abilities include the ones that look like Bursting Arrow and Well-Oiled, plus something that looks like a shuriken, the Long Shot sniping ability, and an icon on the tree opposite Long Shot that looks a bit like Death Cloud.
So they share at least two abilities. Nothing showing either with Stealth, but there seem to be more abilities than can be mapped for each character.
