So, the gameplay that we've seen so far has been of the consoles. What worries me about what they have been saying is that tactical camera is only activated when you pause (spacebar). This might work better on consoles this way but has this been made for the PC as well? Or on PC are we allowed to run around in the tactical view?

Would we be able to get some word on the PC gameplay please?

Yes I would really appreciate seeing some PC UI screenshots. at least to make sure we're getting our pretty quickbars.

I just want to know if we can run around completely in the tactical camera, also the use of the Tab button. Will I be able to cycle through my party members using Tab or will I have to stretch up to the F keys (so much slower to use the F keys to cycle party members >.>)?

In one of the interviews he said explicitly that you can unpause while remaining in the tactical view.

But yes, at least a screenshot of the PC UI is needed.

You can use tactical camera outside of pause. I believe Mike Laidlaw said this on twitter as a number of people asked him.

Ninja'd but yeah I just want a screenshot of the UI with the quickbars shown and whatnot.

It very much seems that this game is designed with the controller in mind first and foremost.  If that's the case, then I would be using the controller myself on PC because there's no longer a point to a keyboard and mouse scheme.  I can sit back in my chair and have access to all 8 abilities with ease on the controller.  If there are only 8 abilities you can use, what would be the point of all those lovely keyboard options anymore?

Quick movement and fast targeting. I find it faster to right-click move in top-down camera, plus you can see the layout better.

Running behind the character only works in MMORPGs :/.

Maximizing speed isn't really the biggest deal when you can pause during combat.  I'm not really in a hurry.  I'd rather be more comfortable in a lazy boy if there aren't really any hotkey benefits from using a keyboard.

There have been loads of threads on this matter. Bioware have confirmed there is a PC UI and that they will show it.

But they are keeping it a secret for some reason.

I asked Mike Laidlaw why that was on Twitter. No response.

I like to challenge myself by trying my best to play the game without pausing during combat :P.  That's why I want to cycle through my party members quickly you know :), it's faster to reach the abilities and to reach the players when you can tab to them and then I don't need to pause :D.

You know. Bioware don't have to "confirm" a PC UI, because the PC needs a UI. It is a part of the game. How do you play Dragon Age on PC without a UI?

I'm too cack-handed to use a controller. Just been playing PC for far too long. 20+ years! Damn, I'm old.  :P  Of course, if you want some hilarity, watching me attempt to use a controller is the way to go. I tried that with Borderlands 2 and.... I shot at the sky and the ground and nearby rocks a lot. I mean, a lot a lot. Whereas even the most (apparently) difficult KB&M layouts are no problems for me. I remember people complaining that the standard Skyrim KB layout was too difficult to use and I was just going O_O.... *looks down at keyboard and how easily I'm using it* "Really?"

But I'm like everyone else, I'd really like to see the PC UI and what form the quickbars and so on take. I want my nice long strip of abilities at the bottom so I can easily access (ie. one-click) my PC's various skills.

Gamestar (a german PC games magazine) played DA:I at gamescom and had a little interview with Cameron Lee. They asked why they couldn't use kb+m and Cameron said that the PC UI and kb+m aren't ready yet

He also said, that no one should worry, there will be a proper PC UI with a hotbar etc., but he got quiet when they were asking about menus. I hope they won't be as bad as those in Skyrim, especially because modding will be difficult.

LOL I have heard so many people say that and I don't doubt you or them at all. All I know is I have no problems with it. I guess it's just one of those YMMV sort of things. Or I'm just weird. That is entirely possible. It wouldn't be the first time I was weird.

I'm afraid they don't show the m+k UI because they're not confident enough to show it. On the other hand, I'm still hopeful, because some of the Dragon Age developers are huge PC geeks.

Tab already had a great use in the previous two games, namely highlighting objects you could interact with. I almost never walk around without holding tab.

I found it bearable before Sky UI (I mean it was clunky as **** but useable.) But no? Hell no. I reinstalled Skyrim and nope nope nope. I can't do it now. I can't. Too clunky. It's like a thousand times worse now that I've gotten used to Sky Ui.

I too have asked a couple of times with no response and it appears it is being kept under wraps for some reason. My guess is that it was designed on a controller based system and they simply don't have anything to show yet as the PC UI hasn't finished construction. This is disappointing, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the keyboard and mouse UI/system will be bad, it all depends on how much time they take with it and how much effort they put in.

It is worrying though.

The conspiracy theorist friends of mine tell me it is because Xbox will have paid to ensure only their platform's UI is shown prior to release - which I suppose is possible given their announcement of Xbox timed-exclusive DLC - they obviously have some arrangement with the Xbox people.

Hopefully we will see it soon, I will never in a million years play a PC RPG with a controller. The previous UI's in Dragon Age have been perfect for me. Let's hope they are similar.

the PC UI will be DLC, on the bright side it comes in 5 colours, purple, rainbow, cyan, magenta and hot pink (however the hot pink requires the NUG SLAUGHTER achievement)

im getting a little worried about the state of the PC UI, there has been no work in progress shown, no hints at what it will look like, every time a dev has spoken its always been about making it work with a controller, which im all for since they need to market this at consoles, but EVERYTHING i have seen has been controller orientated and talking about optimising the experience on the controller.

Maybe my suspicions are unfounded and it will be fine, but right now, im not confident overall with how there presenting the UI i.e. not saying anything about it at all or at least showing a work in progress, hell, i would be happy to see that so we get a good impression of what to expect

Hm, the game is almost released. This is leaving it just a little bit late for something as important as a UI.
