I disagree. Controllers are great for platformers and certain action games. I played Rayman Origins with a controller and then tried it with a keyboard, which is really difficult.
Traditional RPGs, on the other hand, are too complex for controllers, and I truly hope that my hotkey bar will take up the entire width of my monitor.

That said, I'm not worried about the PC interface. I'm sure we'll see it eventually and I'm sure it'll be fine. Just gotta sit through the politics for now.

If KB/M UI "is not ready yet" how is it going to be tested? It's less than two months left before gold status.
It may be in a state that's playable enough for testing but without the polish that's necessary to show it to the public.

Try a racing game with Kb/M...controller master race.

^This. Oh the horror of playing racing games without a controller. I play most of my PC games with KB/M, but racing games are one of those classes of games where it's 100% controller for me.

I'm quite certain that part of their deal with Microsoft is to only show these demos being played with an XBone controller. That way some people will start subconsciously associating it with that platform specifically.
That said, I'm not worried about the PC interface. I'm sure we'll see it eventually and I'm sure it'll be fine. Just gotta sit through the politics for now.
I'm pretty sure they've stated in the past that showing games with controllers is a lot easier on them, actually.
Plus, I supsect it just hasn't been ready.

Whether you call it pessimism or realism, I for one am bracing myself for a HUGE disappointment in this area. I mean even if the PC UI wasn't yet complete, not to release even a simple screenshot of what it looks like now. A picture with a hotbar and a mouse cursor on the screen would relieve a load of worry.
After watching so many game series fall into this trap over time, the cynic in me believes that they are just avoiding the issue so the backlash against it doesn't interrupt the growing hype train leading up to release.
I am so hoping that I will feel foolish for thinking like this once I see it and that I should have had more faith here. Dragon Age just happens to be my favorite game series of all time and to watch it go down such a dark road would be heart-breaking.

And that may well be true. But that doesn't mean Microsoft isn't paying them to use their controller specifically.
BioWare has shown multiple times already that they're not afraid to show an interface that isn't finalized.
How many different versions have we seen of the controller layout?

Oh, gods, I hope so. That would be a perfectly reasonable explanation for this strange behaviour. The conspiracy theorist friends of mine tell me it is because Xbox will have paid to ensure only their platform's UI is shown prior to release - which I suppose is possible given their announcement of Xbox timed-exclusive DLC - they obviously have some arrangement with the Xbox people.

I can imagine a good mouse-based steering system, but I've never seen one.

We don't have information about the PC UI, but they've said and even showed that you're able to pause AND unpause while in tactical view. You can even play the whole game in tactical view if you want to, though it's not recommended as the visuals were made with the normal camera in mind.

They actually said you can pause and unpause regardless of camera mode, so we can pause (and hopefully issue commands) even without going to tactical view.We don't have information about the PC UI, but they've said and even showed that you're able to pause AND unpause while in tactical view. I really do find that Microsoft conspiracy theory heartening . I am now going to move forward as if I know nothing of the PC UI, including how many active abilities we might have available.

Can I get a source on that statement? There was this thread with direct questions about this sort of functionality and a dev answer that amounted essentially to "Can't say anything about it".They actually said you can pause and unpause regardless of camera mode, so we can pause (and hopefully issue commands) even without going to tactical view.

Yes, you can pause without entering the tactical camera.

I also think we don't know whether pause acts (or can act) like a toggle, as it did in DAO and DA2.
