Or you can just keep asking to see it until you see it, complain if it sucks, complain how long it took to find out that it sucks, and move on.

But sure, you could turn into the hysterical mess that you think anyone must be for having a different opinion than you, as well.

You weren't really active during DA2 and ME3 right?

Because BSN showed up to be exactly that, a hysterical mess. So go figures why i've little to no patience with those kind of trends in topics like this.

So i can flail myself and crying for months bitter tears of rage on how i was betrayed because the UI was bad?

Nope but I hardly see the point in you coming into a thread expressing a desire to see the PC UI to go "I don't care." and attempt to mock people who do I mean what you want a cookie for not caring? We do care we're asking the devs to show it. If you don't care bully for you this thread is clearly not in your interests then.

These new screens showing the menu though, show that the second page is for items, not abilities, so that's why there's a four ability limit in multiplayer. This demonstrates that multiplayer and single player have different UI's, so this hopefully means that mouse/keyboard does not have a limit of eight abilities in single player. It's not concrete proof, but I thought I'd mention it, in case anyone else here also would feel reassured by this.

I don't exactly feel reassured, since it still means an 8 actions restriction. In MP it's 4+4, in SP it's 8 whole.

Mate this is like the 10th thread asking the same exact thing.

I could have tolereted this kind of topic if we hadn't any kind of comment from bioware but we know that there is a PC dedicated UI since april.

Probably because the devs have yet to show it. How dare we keep asking for them to reveal it. I mean come on now.

Then just ignore it. How hard is it to ignore a topic you don't want to see? It's even kept to it's own threads. -_-

No one is going to suddenly stop wanting to see the PC UI because you came in here and went you don't care. All that causes is needless arguments.

It points to the single player UI not being affected by what is in the multiplayer. If there is still an eight action restriction for mouse/keyboard in single player, then it is a deliberate choice, not because of controllers/multiplayer.

If you think it's overdone report it to a mod, and they'll close it if it's redundant. Mod support is a lot better than the old BSN. Being aggressive towards others probably won't help anything.

No argument there, but both of those really exploded post-release. Even if they decide never to show it, at least we'll know what the PC UI looks like by then. At least for my part, the issue will be resolved then, even if it is much to my annoyance. I don't plan to dwell on it.

But I'd prefer to see it much sooner than that.

Admittedly some people in this topic are a bit overboard, but most of them seem to just want to know about a feature that's important to them, no different then people who want to know more about the romances or the crafting. There's no reason to belittle the majority simply because some are claiming the sky is falling.

I still don't see a logical connection here. 8 slots in both SP and MP. If it's not "affected" than it must be a quite improbable coincidence that 3rd title in the series, and first to have MP and controller support on PC, is also the first to limit to 8 the number of active actions in any and all playmodes.

It's also the first to limit to 8 actions on consoles as well, whereas the previous titles allowed use of the radial menu, so to me, it looks like a deliberate choice. Is it a choice I agree with? Not really, but I'm not jumping at any conspiracy theories here.

Also, you can calm down on my typo, considering you made one immediately after pointing mine out :P

Edit: wait...now I don't understand why you put quotes around "affected" because it's not even a typo. I'm confusing myself

This guy...

1) Claims he/she's 29.

2) unapologetically mocks people with legit concerns on the UI, while putting himself/herself on a pedestal

3) labels us with blanket terms like whiners

Stay classy.

I rest my case.

Back on topic, I am quite curious as to how it will pan out on pc if this 8 ability limit turns out to be true. Will there be day-one mods that remove this restriction (Yes, its frostbite, but DAII had no toolset either, and there are plenty of gameplay mods)? Will people simply circumvent it by pausing the game and swapping out abilities in the menu (not if the no-swapping ability mid-combat rumor is true)? Most importantly, will it really diminish the gameplay?

I don't think it'll really diminish gameplay, to be honest. It doesn't seem like there are really that many spells/talents, especially since it appears that sustained abilities have been removed. In my experience, I rarely used more than eight abilities in the previous games anyway, including sustains. The exception would be mage in Origins, maybe. Perhaps there are players who absolutely need every single ability they unlock, but, at least for me, most of those abilities were unlocked because I had nothing else to do with the points.

No one is saying coincidence. It's whether the decision was made for SP first or not. We don't really have enough info to answer that, either way.

Not only do i want to see the new UI to be assured the hot bars are not limited to 8, but i also wanna see other things.

I know ME team is different from DA team, but the best PC version of a ME game was ME1, and it was made by an outsourced studio.

In ME2, simple things like Double Click, Enter, Scroll Wheel where not available, not only in game, but on the main menu. Not to mention the overload of functions on some keys and no hot keys for things like Options, Journey and so on.

ME3 improved a little, it a allowed Enter and Scroll Wheel on some limited places, but all the other bad things was still there.

They also didn't talked about resolution limit (max 1080p?), frame rate (locked at 60?) and several other PC graphics stuff.

On multiplayer, i much prefer a server browser to see ping and other stuff instead of just having match-making (ME3 system several times put me with people from the other side of the world or with a N7 lvl 10x bigger than mine).

Anyway, there is a lot of things about the PC version they need to talk about it, and to think this game was to be released next month and yet no PC stuff was showed...

PC specific things (like the UI) are not being shown due to the Xbox marketing deal.

If console limitations are worrying you about the PC release, look to BF4 for answers. Frostbite is a pretty scale-able engine.

The MP server stuff will most likely be like ME3 and console ports though, doubt they would take the time to make it too different since it's p2p rather than servers.

This is what I think as well. The way in which requests to show the PC UI are completely avoided smells like something other than "it's not ready." All gameplay shown has been with an Xbox controller.

If KB/M UI "is not ready yet" how is it going to be tested? It's less than two months left before gold status.

Let's hope the mechanics were ready a long time ago and it's only the graphical assets of the UI that weren't ready yet. It would make sense I guess.

There is a very good reason why it remains the single most downloaded and most endorsed Skyrim mod of all time, because it is an outstanding UI. It made the default one look like a piece of crap.

Skyrim's default user interface looked like crap on its own, not just in comparison to Sky UI.

About the Xbox marketing deal, that's an assumption just like "they are not showing because they made too much changes and people are not gonna like it and overreact to it" ; "it's not ready yet" ; "they didn't start working on it yet" and so on.

About BF4 and FB, we can't assume that. Different companies and DICE has a lot more experience with the engine. And even inside Bioware Edmonton we see 2 different approaches to the PC. While DA team gave us unique mechanics on DA:O (tactical view) and High Texture pack on DA2, ME team never seemed to care.

And now having to deal with 5 platforms and not showing any PC stuff so far, it gets me wondering if they are taking the easy road this time.

I was hoping to see PC UI on gamescom, now i have some hopes for PAX. If they do not show it in there, then i guess it will only be very close to release...

I found the default UI wholly adequate.

I modded just about everything else in Skyrim, but not the UI.

Except that using a controller for that is just a pain. It's why RTSs are an endless aggravation on consoles and never took off there, despite being huge hits on PC.

I'm sure it is a pain if you don't want to use the controller.  The demo players didn't seem too uncomfortable doing it, however, so I don't imagine I will be either.  I can think of one example of a game several years back on PS3 that had a fun RTS mode that worked wonderfully with a controller, seeing as that was the only way to play it.

Not sure why there have to be "this is a worse way to play" comments when it really comes down to what people prefer.

I'm not freaking out about the PC UI. I'm curious about it, but I haven't decided in advance that it will be dreadful.

As with everything else in Inquisition, my initial expectation is that the feature (any feature) will resemble its counterpart from DAO. And wherever it differs in a negative way, I will seek an explanation. This expectation was a conscious decision on my part, because I generally liked DAO's features, and expecting the same again makes me happy.
