Hi bsn it's my first post here so please be kind.

I was just wondering if we could be a reaver and still be a follower of the chantry

Do you think this would be possible story wise ?

thanks for reading

Welcome!

Well, there supposedly are a few Reavers that aren't with Father Kolgrim's bunch (King Calenhad supposedly was one of them, actually), so it's entirely possible for a person to become a Reaver without angering the Chantry anyhow.

I think it's going to be possible.

I doubt spe are going to have a huge impact on the main story , and as far as I can remember ...the Chantry doesn't have troubles with Reavers. It's close to blood magic , but since you're no mage,I think they just might find it gross.

Just don't say stuff like "I worship dragons , they gave me blood , praise them!"

You can probably eat people in the name of Andraste, yes.

"The Veal holds no uncertainty for her, and she will know no fear of death, for the Maker shall be her bacon and her shield, her foundation and her--"

Chant of light, as recited by sister Theodild. (seems appropriate for some reason...)

Unless you go around telling people you're a Reaver I don't see why the Chantry will have a problem..

But I'm pretty sure the Chantry will go bananas finding out you're one. After all, that crazy cult was worshiping some random high dragon thinking it's Andraste.

Thanks everyone for replying,

I like the idea of being the "Herald" and didn't want being a Reaver to harm this

There were Reavers long before that though. As noted above, according to the Qunari King Calenhad drank dragons blood to gain the power of a Reaver in his conquest of Ferelden.

Also, I don't think the dragon thought it was Andraste, the cultists simply did and the dragon was presumably content to have minions that did things for it. I haven't seen any evidence to suggest that DA dragons are intelligent like Tolkein or D&D dragons.

But as you said, as long as the Inquisitor doesn't go around wearing a sign saying, "Hi, I'm a Reaver, ask me anything." you should be fine.

Reavers just aren't well known among the general populace the way, say, Blood Mages are, so there isn't the institutional fear of them to prejudice people at even the mention. I suspect eating people is taboo, however, but as long as you keep that on the down-low, it is unlikely anyone would even know.

LI: ! *muffled protestation*

*make out stops*

LI: "What is-..." *LI pulls out a chunk of human flesh from their mouth and stares at Inquisitor*

Inquiz: "I can explain!"
