For all the talk of nerfing, the MEMP pretty steadily got easier as time went on.  I wonder if DAMP will be the same?

Only the Geth grew stronger and stronger until they've become total abominations.

Heres a nice 54 page thread that stirred things up a bit from the ME3 mp forum.

The Piranha must fall...

54 pages arguing over a Shotgun !!??

Jaw dropping !

DAMP is not capable of that much argument over a nice axe or a character?

Surely?

Don't bet on it. That poster also posted a tutorial on how to do the infamous rocket glitch and should have been banned right there.

It sounds like groups were struggling with MP at PAX, so possibly they might have gone the other way and made everything slightly underpowered this time around and slowly get it right. Or perhaps with the time to work on it they've got everything about right.

BioWare should back themselves instead of kowtowing to a vocal minority. Hell people are still cranky they didn't nerf the harrier or the Reegar which of course are fine as is.

BioWare doesn't kowtow to a vocal minority. The majority of MP people never even look at the forums.

They have a metric buttload of data on the effectiveness and use of every weapon and class. Every MP game played sends back telemetry and there are millions of games played.

Most of the big nerfs came to weapons that were released after launch anyway. Though I still wonder how the Kyrse made it through testing... but it was so fun to use on my sniper before they nerfed it.

The biggest problem at launch was the design of firebase: white. I played gold matches where we did nothing but sit in that one room and kill geth as they funneled mindlessly into our sights. Glad they changed it. (After I played a bunch of gold rounds and unlocked a bunch of weapons)

The idea of growing your skills to the point where you can survive a Campaign is a good one.

It shows good progression and gives an interest to building up decent gear and abilities.

I don't know if we heard whether at Pax parties were going in as a 4x level 1 party?

Either way, it sounds great.

Ha-hah, I remember all commotion and I love that thread with Protoman, he single-handedly(not really but still) nerfed Piranha. When Piranha got nerfed, he made a gloating topic which was very funny too.  One of the best threads in ME3 MP forum, only the Flamer thread and couple of others were better.

Well, remember that was people's first time with the game...It's hard to believe but there was a time when the idea of soloing SILVER in MEMP was thought to be impossible. Hell, I wasn't good enough int he first week to get Operation Goliath weekend challenge because it required extracting on SILVER and I sucked. Of course, by the end of my nearly 900 hrs in MEMP, I could solo the first 5-6 waves in Platinum.

There is a lot of data but the average player wasn't making the Krysae do the magic things it was claimed to be able to do. In all my PUG matches I never saw it used that way (silver+ gold). It isn't that a small group of people complain it is that a small group of people can work the weapons to the outer limits of it's ability. I hated the Piranha and people thought that was grossly overpowered but I couldn't finish the challenge with it.

Yup! From a financial standpoint this game will save me a lot if money since I'll be playing the ever living snot out of it and won't need much else. Even though the ME3 mp started out as a bare bones multiplayer in comparison to what it became, it was still a lot of fun. DAMP starting at square one with what Bioware had be learnt from the ME3 mp already in place could be incredible, and that's not even factoring the single player campaign which looks stellar.

BioWare:  "Balance changes for this week, the +5 axe of templar slaying is 5 pounds heavier, does 3.87 less damage and now has a chicken head as a pommel.  The staff of mooning now weighs 3 pounds less and the lightning damage penetrates 2 inches more and does 3 points more damage."

BSN:  "WAIL!  What a joke!  I just got my axe up to +5 last night and now they nerf it!    I'm not sure if I am going to play anymore.  Biowere pls!!!"

and I see myself being unable to play singleplayer anymore because they are constantly screwing around with what they call "balance" -.- (like mages that don't do real damage anymore because it makes the other classes look bad/weak (even if it is logical that a hurled fireball does more damage than being hit by a sword or on arrow -.-))

Thanks Bioware - truly awesome :(

Multiplayer Balance changes

====== December 12 =======

Qunari Cleaver

- Damage per swing decreased from (25.7 - 38.4) to (22.3 - 35.9)

I can already hear the uproar.

In ME the multiplayer balance changes didn't effect single player weapons did they?

Hey hey hey, Tactical Barrier is WAY op. Increase armour/defense AND damage bonus? FOR OVER TEN SECONDS? Not cool. All I see in these matches is Keepers putting protective Barriers on and wasting everything. They don't even help with objectives and loot chests!

Just to second this, no. The Blood Pack Punisher was a friggin' great weapon in SP but in MP it wasn't worth using for example. They always said the changes in MP didn't bleed into SP.

They should include a Reegar Carbine staff.

I also find it amusing that apparently it's the Staff of Mooning that gets penetration.

Technically, the Reegar Carbine Staff should be classified as a two-handed longsword. Biovar pls.

Duh, it's a magic crossbow that fires five electric bolts simultaneously. Totally wrecks everything when your Elementalist use Flame Weapon. Biovar pls nerf, this Reegar crossbow cheese is destroying DAMP.

Balance is important. No doubt about that. Having boss type monsters with 100 hitpoints and being able to hit for a million does no one any favours.

conversely monsters with a million hitpoints and only be able to hit for a maximum of 10 isn't great either.

The bigger question will be what is going to replace the missile glitch?

"Hey look at the Reaver in the lobby equipping and maul, that maul shoots out endless 5000 hp fireballs!  Kick that player!"

What are you talking about? We PC master race never suffered from your "missile glitch".
