If I have the game on PC and a friend on PS4 can we play together?
Any chance for cross platform play?

There is no cross-platform play of any kind in Dragon Age Multiplayer.
this settles the point.

It is a shame there is going to be no cross-platform. DAI is not a shooter so cross-platform could potentially work.
Maybe it is just too much work to implement cross-platform (know how MS and Sony conduct their businesses).

I could be wrong, but my basic understanding of it was that each platform has different protocols and security measures and whatnot when sending or receiving any information online (multiplayer of course being one of the main examples of that,) so I always figured the reason for no cross-platform play was the platforms themselves, and not the games.

This is actually what worries me a little. If what you said was true then there is a high chance that we might not get a dedicated server for the MP. Since I would image that it would be harder to implement a p2p style cross-platform mp than a dedicated server which supposed to host all matches. However cross-platform is not an impossibility. FF14 has done it so why can't Bioware. Therefore, I think there might be a certain degree of politics involved as well (again knowing MS and Sony I wouldn't be surprised).

I guess I could be wrong then if cross-platform has been done before, although I'd imagine it's a lot of extra work that if nothing else, they'd rather spend that time working on the game itself instead. It has also been mentioned that there are no dedicated servers for MP. I'll see if I can dig up a link to it.
Edit: Here's the post about dedicated servers.

So ea/bioware hasn't learned from the lessons of ME3 mp.
Cheers for the link mate.
