The only thing I need to upgrade are these:

CPU:
Have a: AMD Turion™ 64 Mobile Technology ML-37
Minimum: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
Recommended: 2.6 GHz Core 2 Duo Intel or equivalent AMD CPU

This is an Alienware M9700 Series Computer
It does not support a dual core processor; however, I contacted Alienware and talked to a Bioware DEV and both said it is not necessary to play the game as long as the processor gets upgraded to a processor that my computer supports (a Turion 64 ML - 44 processor was mentioned but I cannot find a new one anywhere!).

Alienware recommends (keep in mind my laptop DOES support this) a: AMD Turion 2.4 ghz 35 watz 1 MGB RAM memory, but they don't know where I can get it.

Any suggestions where I can get it?

P.S.: Everything else is above recommended requirements, and if you have any further questions about my laptop I'll check this regularly to update the information.

Thanks in advance for helping! :D

Ebay for a 9800GT, it's cheap and gives some pretty good framerates. Plus it will last you for a while too. Sorry I can't give more info because I probably live in a different country.

By the way, isn't this a Mass Effect forum and not a PC one? I guess it relates to Mass Effect a little.

EDIT: Missed that it was a laptop, I don't think you can upgrade a laptop, you will need to buy a whole new comp.

With regards to the CPU I know you can; however, I am not too sure about the graphics card as I do not know if it infused with the motherboard but I do not think so.

With regards to a Mass Effect topic, I will change the title, I want to make sure I can play Mass Effect 2. At least this is better than all those spoiler threads lol.

I'm not going to "beat" a dead horse here, but how old is that laptop?

And why do people try to "game" on laptops anyways?

this should be in the "tech" support forum.

If you hit the Start Button, there should be the Run box directly above it. Type dxdiag in there and hit enter.

It looks like ME 2 REQUIRES a Dual Core CPU to run effectively, regardless how awesome your GPU and RAM is. People that "has acquired" the PC Version of the game and have Single Cores been unable to run the game effectively, despite everything else in their computers are above the minimum. Casey Hudson, the Lead Developer for this game has briefly mentioned that ME 2 needs a Dual Core to run properly. As much as I don't want to believe that UE 3.5 needs a Dual Core to run effectively, it is sadly how it goes. Single Cores are unable to run this game.

This is however is what I gathered so far. Once the game is officially released, we will see if this "speculation" is true or not.

It is about 2 years old, and is a great gaming laptop (as that's what Alienware makes them for anyway).

I just got off the phone with Alienware and it turns out that my video card is fine since it has 2 slots they say and if I keep it plugged in it meets the recommended requirements.

As far as the processor he said my laptop can play the game even though it is not a duo core and I need to get a:

AMD Turion 2.4 ghz 35 Watz Mgb RAM memory (and my laptop CAN support this); however, he didn't know where I could find it. Anyone know?

As far as being in the tech support forum, sorry... wasn't thinking too clearly Posted Image
