I only occasionally used a mic in me mp, especially once there was a pool of more experienced players.  I can see the need for more group communication to start in DA mp as it seems there might be more tactical strat.  What say you all?  More mic usage?  People shy to use mics?

I have no mic.  Going by ME3 MP, neither do a lot of other PC players.

I wonder if we'll get text chat?

Battlefield PC gets text chat, so I'd say it's definitely possible.

As long as they include an option to mute players on the fly, I don't care much.

But I just had a ME3 MP match with two very talkative russians with their mics set to maximum sensitivity. I could hear they chairs squeaking when they shifted in them. It was ... annoying to say the least.

Also, ingame text chat. It's compulsory. Just because I don't wish to listen to someone breathing/screaming/whatever into their mic, doesn't mean I do not wish to maintain some manner of communication in a coop game.

I'm always down for using my mic. Playing with friends we do whole lot of chatting, laughing, and hurling insults at each other. On the rare occasion I'm not with friends I try to communicate enemy movements in case anyone is bothering to listen.

I watched the vids on DAMP and thought something similar. I initially used a MIC often with Me3 MP, but over time, did not really need it.

Looking at DAMP and the method of approach and slower combat in appearance, coordination seems vital. I imagine at the equivalent to GOLD or PLATINUM runs a MIC would make for an easier run. I know I very much want to find people who want to play like that.

I hope that BioWare has not created a multiplayer mode where people need to talk with one another, because PC gamers will not do that. I suspect that the majority of them don't have a microphone.

I really hope there's text chat because if ME3 MP is anything to go by it will be as quiet as a Phillies game during a losing streak.

I think in game communique will be less important as people learn optimum roles.  (As in tank runs up front to engage, mage casts a wall of ice or something to block off some enemies, archer targets enemy mages and rogue sneaks int enemy back ranks.)  It would be useful for the mage to tell the team what he is going to do i think.

Unless someone I am friends with brings someone that doesn't have a mic I don't really play with people who don't have a mic.   I mean if you're good then you're good and I'll play with you....but as you play more and meet people who do have mics then thats who I play with.

Like a lot of you, I used the mic in ME3 multiplayer at first.  I used it less and less as I played because I was playing with experience players that understood their roles and the maps.  With the randomization of the maps, I can see using the mic a lot more, because we won't be using the same well practiced strategies.

This is what I'm hoping. I don't have a mic and don't plan to get one.

I have a mic, but I hate having to use it. I'm hoping it will be like ME3's MP, where after a while it was no longer necessary to talk to people.

I don't like using mics all that much because of previous sour experiences.

Yeah since we will be  using the same engine as Battlefield. It is even possible to use text chat in ME3mp, but you just need some pc hackery or an easier option, a mod from Nexus.

Unless I have friends on, I usually don't have my mic plugged in. I don't take that as a license to go "LEEROY JENKINS!" though.

In ME3 I always helped players out when they needed it, I don't see why I wouldn't in DA:I.

I have a mic but the rest of my family think I'm dilly chatting to the TV/Xbox.

In principle I don't mind it, my mic is comfortable and I can separately adjust game sound and chat.

Text chat would be great for those of us that don't have mics or don't normally like using voice chat with people we don't know.

As long as they include an option to mute players on the fly, I don't care much.

this is a must for me, I really hate the voices of males between the ages of 13 - 20... i just can't stand hearing them, even if they're being polite their voices just get on my nerves.

Haha, when me and my friends got together it was like a conversation between 13 years old Bieber fan girls.(sarcasm, well kind of)

Biower just has to provide a text chat this time. No text chat in ME3 mp was a travesty and one of the most moronic **** I ever saw on PC. I mean no text chat in the multiplayer game?! Majority of PC players don't use voice communication, but almost all use a text chat.
At least exbawks players had a built-in console chat in me3 mp.

I feel that for the most part. That the mic feature in ME3 MP was bugged. I know mine was, and it never got fixed in any patch. I had 2 PTT keys set up. One for TS3 and one for ME3. People in teamspeak could hear me. people in ME3 could not.  I often ran in groups with people on TS3 and commincation was fine cause of that. But having to rely on ME3 would not have worked for 100% of mic using pc gamers. Mainly to due to a ME3 being a console port imho.

I hope there is mic support in DAMP that actually works for everybody who wants it to lol.. I would also LOVE a chat window to type in.

I can say that if it requires vocal communication in any form, than I won't even bother playing the MP portion.    Don't own a mic, won't own a mic, and I certainly don't want to hear any other players voices coming through my speakers.

A chat window would be great idea, but under no circumstances do I want to hear other players voices.

I'm a female PC player and used my mic quite a bit on ME3 MP. Just makes life a lot easier when you can say: "phantom behind you" when required. And playing is more fun when you can have a laugh.

I found that once one person start talking, many people are happy to join in and banter. I had no Origin friends when I started ME3 MP as it was my first MP experience, and I built up a nice list of fun people to play with, more because of the laughs we had over the mic than because of skill or strategy. It was fun to try out all Volus squads or assign each other kits and weapons or challenges for the lulz, and that's easier done with mics.

I'm honestly not sure why in a multiplayer environment that's inherently a social as opposed to a solitary experience, people dislike talking to others over the mic and are more comfortable with text chat, which I find way too cumbersome. But hey, to each his own and what's fun for some isn't for others. Obviously I hope for good mic support.
