I'll probably use my mic if the situation calls for it. I don't go out of my way to chat, but I will say thanks for revives or doing objectives.
edit: Forgot to say I'm on pc.

I always have a mic at the ready, muted until I feel the need to speak. I'm not really a chatty person unless I know you well so I keep it pretty short. "I'll rez him, just focus on the enemies" or "Freeze coming up if someone could prep a shatter." Then back to mute.
Now on PS4 (yes I'm getting a PC and PS4 copies since all my buddies play console) when I'm in a match with a friend or two? Prepare to mute me because you're going to hear a lot of expletives (I'm so sorry, truly I am but I have a terrible mouth) and insults thrown around telling each other how much we suck, heh. We're really nice to randoms who join us though. Even if a random makes a mistake we blame it on each other.
In-game chat on PC would be good since it might at least get some people to communicate. I don't think it should be necessary but I'm sure it will help.
I like using the mic. I don't like that it loses juice so quickly. Nowadays I only mic up if someone else is mic'd (is that even a word?) up.
I use my mic more often than not, though I'm going to be stuck with the crappy xbox one one for a while, waiting for a cheaper wireless version to come out. But honestly, for any xbox players, please, please, please, if you don't have a mic, don't use your kinect, please, no, I understand if its the only mike you have, but if thats so, make sure you're in a quiet environment, and that you take it away from your tv, if I hear every little sound that comes out of your tv its annoying. I was playing on gta online the other day, and a guy was using his kinect and I just about rage quit from the mission, no quickway to find out who it was and mute them, and they were having an argument with there family, and there was so much noise. I'm very liberal with my self mute, so please, be respectuful to other players and don't do this sort of thing to them.
I have mic and use it sometimes. Mostly to say something like 'here we go again' or 'let's go'. Sometimes that gives others the impulse to say something too. But i had to figure out how to use 'push to talk' because when you try to use a key that is standard being used by the game it will not work.
I tried CTRL, E, Q, R, T, etc but all these keys would not let me use 'push to talk' and now it's under 'C' and it works quite fine. Now i can yell 'CRAP' without anyone noticing. ![]()
Although you can change the use of keys on your keyboard they are somewhat hardcoded and can for instance not being changed for use with 'push to talk'. Very strange.

I like mics because people say funny things. And I record it. And post it on Youtube.

For some reason, people always seem like they are avoiding me...
I never use my mic in PUGs. There's really no point.
I'm just grateful that I finally figured out how to mute someone in-game on Xbox One (360 made it so easy.)
I use mic with friends. Don't like to use it with strangers.
And I second this:
I never use my mic in PUGs. There's really no point.
With the introduction of the push to talk feature the pug matches went dead silent again.
Having a mike would get in the way of me passively aggressively spamming activating/deactivating shield wall behind people.
Plus I don't want people to hear my voice. I don't even want to hear my voice, why would I subject anyone else to that agony.
As long as they include an option to mute players on the fly, I don't care much.
You already have that option. Just pres V, you can mute them there.
Arrgg i really hope for text chat...then i would just mute DAI and listen to some music when farming.

I would use the microphone more, if people used Push to Talk more.

I use mic a lot myself, and I like that other people do.
The most incredible thing is that even if I do, some people just dont seem to understand basic things even if you tell it to them.
I use it if people ask me to or if the group is chatty. I find the mic for the xbox one is a bit annoying as it changes the feel of the controller.
To all those who use mics in games in which I am not using one. One hop means yes and two hops mean no.
I have a mic, but I usually won't talk unless someone asks a question or I need to relay some important information (Watch out for the whirlwinding Red Templar Commander behind you!)
Another reason the mic is muted most of the time is because I'm usually listening to music while going through the zones and I not everyone will probably share my taste in music.
