The bigger decision for me is when to delve into mp. Originally I was going to make sure I played the sp game through before starting mp but I'm waffling on that now.
There are four approaches to this:
- You don't care. Dive straight into to multiplayer before single player.
- After the Prologue when you have Skyhold and a war table.
- After your single player party has visited elven ruins and/or the Orlesian/Tevinter locations.
- Only after a fully completed single player game.
For me I had considered option 2 - waiting until I had control of Skyhold would immersively justify sending other parties to fight.
But to not spoil the locations, I will actually go for option 3. I will not start multiplayer until I have first visited any of the elven, orlesian and tevinter locations. Once I have, then that will head canon 'unlock' that location for multiplayer campaign use.
A little pedantic maybe, but I see multiplayer activity sitting very nicely alongside single player activity, but only once the single player game has given me permission.
