So, can we not build a custom character like SP? If it is a choice of pre-made characters I just got a lot less interested in the MP.

It's a lot like Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, although I have a feeling that I'll end up faaar preffering ME3's nameless, faceless characters to these with their own personalities.
In that game, if everyone brought, say, Salarian Infiltrators, it felt like you were in a game with an STG squad. In this game, if everyone brings, for example, the Legionairre, it will feel like you're in a game with four clones who keep making likely cringeworthy comments to each other in the same voice.

Whatever mage is the default and eventually the Necromancer.
If it is anything like ME3, I will unlock the Necromancer last.

To this day I can't unlock a Geth character.

So... how will MP work? Will it be Dungeon only (no objection to it)? Will there be free roam, as well?
My main question is: will there be a way to search for parties with a good distribution of classes? Say I'm a Tank, can I join a search function that will pair me with a mage (who's kind of a healer, now), and two DPS guys (possibly an assassin and an archer, but not necessarily). There is such a function in FFXIV and it works very well. I hope DA:I will have it, too. Ya guys know?
And will there be level sync? Will said search function sync the level of the party members according to the member with the lowest level? This is another feature that worked wonders in FFXIV.

Depends on which class will be strong enough. Still, I prefer magic based classes.

It'll be dungeon crawl type. There'll be 5 rooms chosen (and set up) randomly from a list of 10. This prevents stagnant environments like in ME3 MP. This also makes it so each game will be different. There'll be no memorizing the path lines. There'll be objectives. Escorting, or retrieving items are some that have been mentioned. Also, certain classes can access restricted parts - warriors bash, rogues lock pick, and mages release seals.
As for the other features, I doubt it'll be anything as intricate. It'll probably be similar to ME3 MP in terms of team matchmaking. However, there hasn't been much of any information available in that regard.

How big are these "rooms"? I know they said games should take 20-30 mins each, but "rooms" makes it sound small!

Does the Matchmaking in ME3 MP match people's classes and sync player levels?

Haha yeah, I only said rooms because I don't know what else to call them. I'm certain they're larger than rooms - some take place outside. It'll probably be something like...have you seen the video of the player who explored the Orlais mansion? I imagine something like that - but I'm sure it'll be bigger than what you imagine as "rooms."

Well, classes weren't as clear cut as "tank," "support," "dps," etc. So there wasn't any class match. As for player levels, ME3, as far as I know, never did that. People's N7 levels were varying. One could promote and get a high N7 level yet still be a poor player.
However, in regards to DAMP, there hasn't been any information released about it. (I doubt it'll be so intricate. Probably like ME3 MP).

Thx. From what I understood of your expectations, the levels probably won't matter so much, in order to require level syncing.
However, I do worry about the classes. Ending up with four archers, for instance, could be very impractical. In FFXIV, you can make a party however yu want, if it's a private party. However, if it's a PuG, there is a proportion of classes that must be followed.

I was worried about seeing tons of duplicate characters, but thinking back to Mas Effect 3 I doubt it will be much of a problem. It was very rare to see duplicate characters then.
You could still end up with two Vanguards, an Infiltrator and a Sentinel, (if I was there, it was always Sentinel) though. Anyway, I plan to have a handful of characters kitted up and ready for a last minute switch if need be to round out the party.

For some reason I'm afraid the random rooms will become very repetitive, much more than any ME3 map ever was.
Because the map changes every time, eventually you'll have seen every "room". When you'll know by heart every room, you'll begin to have games where it's always similar. Eventually, I fear playing 10 games in a row is gonna feel "not different enough" because the maps are gonna share like 40% of the same rooms.
Part of the appeal from ME3 fixed maps was the atmosphere is different each time. Sure you know White or Glacier by heart, but you don't play roughly the same map every game. The drastic changes from games to games keeps it from becoming boring, it keeps it fresh.
I just feel DAMP maps are gonna be soulless for that reason. I'm gonna reserve my final opinion until after a couple games just in case though...

Can we change the character after a PuG has been formed? That would help, I suppose.
And even in a team without many repeated classes, I guess the lack of a Tank could end up being a common occurence. Tanks are usually the rarest role in RPGs.

In Mass Effect it usually dropped you inyo a lobby for a game that hadn't started yet. From there you could see what characters and equiomemt everyone else was using, and adjust your own accordingly. It did occasionally jjst put you right into an in-progress game though.

I think you will be able to start with any of 12, and then unlock the others. If so i probably start with Archer, Necromancer or Arcane. My first 2 plays in SP will be Archer and Necromancer so i might to pick those because i will be most experienced withthem
