Doesn't the multiplayer mean they designed the singleplayer tactical view to be unnecessary?

I really hope the tactical view isn't just a gimmick in singleplayer because of multiplayer design. Since both were co developed and since these companies favor mp because they think they make more money from it, they have to design sp and mp together. So I am hoping that this didn't lead to them having to change tactical view into a gimmick and the whole game can be played without any negative consequences without it since mp doesn't have the option to use it.

Mp was fine is me3 because mass effect ultimately became a 3rd person shooter but a franchise like dragon age where the 2nd game combat was too action focused instead of tactics focused, this kind of thing is worrisome.

1) Tactical view was unnecessary in DA:O if you played on normal.
2) You play four characters in SP, not one.
  • EmperorKarino and Samahl like this

The one thing to remember is that you're going from having to control 4 characters with up to 8 abilities each down to a single character with only 4 abilities.

That alone is enough to make tactical view simply not a consideration for MP and free to be designed with only SP in mind.

Tactical view (and the related process) doesn't look like a gimmick to me.

I like the way I can set the path and actions for each character tactically.

In multiplayer, the tactical mechanic is not necessary because each character have a real live human attached to it who can direct combat in real time.

I've tried to understand your worries OP:

  • You are worried that tactical view is a gimmick? I think I will use it a great deal.
  • You are worried that MP is favoured? There have been BW tweets confirming SP is the primary format.
  • You are worried that tactical view has been changed? It wasn't in DA2 so it has been reintroduced rather than changed.
  • You are worried that you can play SP without it? You can (it's be harder and it's a choice) but you can use it as much as you like.
  • You are worried about too much action focus? I see a move away from the non-tactical DA2 to a mode that allows both a tactical and action approach.

And why would BW design something to be unnecessary?

I hope some of this reassures?

Thanks for this.
