Seeing as Dragon Age Origins is my newest obsession (and seeing as I can't obsess over anything without breaking out the pen and ink) I started drawing some DA fan art. I don't do anything digital... I'm old school, that way. Feels 'artificial'. I'm more into the art style of, like European Sci Fi and Fantasy comics of the late 70's and early 80's (Think Heavy Metal / 2000 A.D.)

Anywho, here's my first sketch of many to come. It's an inked piece featuring the lovely Leliana:

If that doesn't work, feel free to check it out here: captainspandex.deviantart.com/art/Leliana-Inked-151418437

Here's a similar inked piece of Morrigan. I de-skankified her outfit a bit, because I was tired of her looking like a patchwork medieval hooker.

Larger, prettier version is here: http://captainspande...Inked-151548722

I've also done some fan comics for other video games (Thief II: The Metal Age and Silent Hill 2) and you can check those out at my DA page.

Hope you like! More to come!

Perhaps it's the Frank Miller influence ?

If there is one skill I've never been able to master it's pencil shading. I've been trying for years and years but it eludes me >.<
Thanks btw :)

-edit- if you tell me that was done in ink my head will asplode...

So, let me get this straight. Not only do you possess an acerbic wit, you have artistic inclinations as well?

This is where you tell me "Oh yeah, I also gravitate towards H. P. Lovecraft and American Pulp/Noir stuffs" and I swoon. Then you go "ALso a big fan of Micheal Moorcock's Elric Series" and I go "Um......well......Meh." And you're all "Nono, It's okay. I'm really more interested in the Brom/Frazetta art the series generated" and then I'm like "Okay! How about BladeRunner?" And then you're all "Amazing." And *then* I'm /swoon and...

Anyways, good stuff. Can't wait to see more.

Yeah... you probably shouldn't look at my "Interests" thing on DA, then. Haha!

Oh my.

Well then. How do you feel about Alan Moore and post-modern horror?

Wow, the picture of Leliana is very pretty. I like her pose, the lighting and the way that the outlines of her armor don't diminish the realistic style of the picture at all. Post more, please! :D

I like a few Moore comics. The Killing Joke, his run on Swamp Thing, From Hell... I find some of his stuff silly and pretentious... and I am in the minority that finds Watchmen to be slightly overrated. And... post-modern horror... I'm not sure what that is.

Post modern horror would be like the movie Scream.

I hates you. You're a bad person ><

How can anyone not like Frank Frazetta is beyond me though. The man is a God.

I'll probably get hated for saying this but I tend to like Bruce Timm's work...

Oh. I probably have never seen a horror film that was made after 1990.

Although I did catch the TV edited version of Scream awhile back and chuckled at the timely use of terms like "Ohh... FFFFFFF-un!" or "Son of a -Gun-"

What a lovely picture! :) I could stare at her face all day. The line art is so clean and has such a fresh look to it. Absolutely fantastic! Keep it up!

And I love Silent Hill. Wonderful series. Hate the latest installments but that's for another thread entirely. /QQ

Horror shouldn't be defined by the amount of blood and gore. The old movies used light effects. The shadows were what made things scary. Alfred hitchcock was a master of doing such and if you watch the old Twilight Zones written by Rod Sterling himself some of those will scare you. Today's horror is just how much blood can we put out there...to me that's just boring. Aaaanyway that was totally off topic and I shall return to watching whatever is on to kill time.

I don't know why, but it really reminds me of Corpse Bride, as well as many other Undead woman portrayals. Just a couple areas of it rotting, and I think it would be an amazing undead figure. It already looks good though.
