No, ME3MP's population always dips and then rebounds whenever there is another major release. DA:I will be no different.

Also, BSN I am proud of you, around a whole page of posts in a CS thread and no one has started to be an asshat? That is unusually good form :P

LOL, I wanted to break the streak but I didn't want to be the only one looking like a douche

I think ME3mp will survive till ea shuts down the servers. I mean there is even a group of mp players that didn't download any of the free dlcs. I think there would probably be people still playing ME3mp even after when ME4 comes out.

This.

And there is a (very very tiny) possibility that the next ME MP turns out to be inferior to the ME3 MP. Making ppl go back.

ME is SciFi, DA is fantasy, not all people like both genres to the same extent.

I for one am not interessted in DA, never played any of the games and will not play DAI but love ME and will play ME3MP as long as it takes BW to release ME4(MP).

I think ME and DA do not compete so much that we have to fear ME3MP being shut down one day after DAI is released.

I'll still drop in from time to time.

I doubt I will ever max my manifest (half way on UR unlocks)

but I'd like a Spitfire if only so that I have everything then.

DAMP will be exciting but ME3 is home.

Considering that the only part of the DA franchise I actively dislike is the combat, I'll probably keep coming back to ME3MP whenever the awesome characters and story of DAI just can't make the combat worthwhile.

I'm hardly a lodestone for the community, though.

Destiny will decimate ME3 MP, for a while

I agree with this. It seemed like damn near everyone on my friends list was playing the beta as much as they could. When destiny launches I think the hit will be felt in the ME3MP community. How long that hit lasts remains to be seen. To be honest I wasn't terribly impressed with the destiny beta, but almost everyone I talked to loved it so it might hold people's interest for awhile. I'll still be playing ME3MP once destiny comes out, but I will also be playing destiny some just because of the sheer number of friends that I have who will be playing it. And if I'm going to be playing it, as someone who thinks destiny is nothing special, imagine what it will be like for those who really like it.

What makes you say it's very very tiny? It would be far from the first game not to match up to its predecessor. Think Black Ops 2 and Ghosts.

I think the CoD argument on predecessors not matching up is a bit difficult to compare to other franchises, personally.

And with the format that ME3Multi has I think there is obvious room for more variety, fixing the things in the game that just don't work, more enemy variation, etc.

Only ME 4 MP will truly end ME 3 MP... It's gonna be a huge improvement on what people here are already hooked on so the transition will most likely be a smooth one..

I posted this in a different thread, I believe it applies here as well:

You can't kill the Mass Effect
The Mass Effect will live on
Borderlands 2 tried to kill the Mass Effect
But they failed, as they were smite to the ground
Dishonored tried to kill the Mass Effect
But they failed, as they were stricken down to the ground
Halo 4 tried to kill the Mass Effect Ha,hahahahaha
They failed, as they were thrown to the ground

No-one can destroy the Mass Effect
The Mass Effect will strike you down with a vicious blow
We are the vanquished foes of the Mass Effect
We tried to win for why we do not know

Titanfall tried to destroy the Mass Effect, but the Mass Effect had its way
Grand Theft Auto then tried to dethrone the Mass Effect, but Mass Effect was in the way
Call of Duty tried to destroy the Mass Effect, but Mass Effect was much too strong
Bioshock Infinite tried to defile the Mass Effect, but Bioshock was proven wrong

Mass Effect
It comes from hell!

Completely agree with your second paragraph. But the first assumes that only Activision titles are vulnerable to screw-ups. Who remembers the BF4 release? It's taken most of a year for BF4 to overtake BF3.

Anyway, everyone else here clearly knows in advance what will happen in the future. And so I'm out, unless I get a functioning crystal ball.

I am not a Pro player and cannot really relate to other MP games myself as ME MP is the only MP i have actually played more than a few hrs, (besides from Star Wars Battlefront 1+2 on PS2 almost 10 yrs ago now). Listening to my oldest son (plays Black Ops and Ghosts) , then things does not always get better just because it's the latest game, and graphics may be improved.

I really hope for ME MP4 to be extraordinary with a lot of awesome improvements, and I think that Bioware are really making an effort to make the new ME MP better than this one.

Despite all the flaws, ME MP is just awesome imo and this is definitely my reference MP for other MP games.

I really hope for something special. It would be easy to get dissapointed in some way. And what to play then??

I just think that the CoD scapegoat in general (though it applies to other genres) gets overused. People like earlier games in series usually because they started there, and advancements that take you farther from that thing you liked in the first place are easy to bin as being 'bad'. Could be my excessive optimism though, it could very well be bad, but I think that it could be good without changing a whole lot. Less you change of a good thing, the better, as long as you fix the things that don't work. Theoretically.

If you keep the game exactly the same, people will hate it. If you go overboard with changes, people will also hate it. It's a VERY hard balance to get right and it's almost impossible to get it right after a few sequels.

Honestly I don't even want an ME4 because I know I won't like it. I would pay full price for a completely polished version of ME3 with more maps/kits/weapons, and continued dev support for the game. More balance changes, ban waves and stuff.

I hate being glib but the DAI MP doesn't look all that entertaining, much like the game. I realize this might not be a popular opinion but it looks very much the part of Elder Scrolls online and I played that for about 30 mins then punted.

I doubt it will take that huge of a hit from DAI.. Just because bioware makes both games doesnt mean everybody plays both games. BSN probably has a majority that do though. But I do know plenty of people, myself included, that like the Sci Fi genre and dont care so much for the fantasy stuff.

I think the DAI concept is based more on Diablo, with its focus on looting. Expect a much stronger emphasis on grind, gear upgrades, etc.

That's very different to ME3, where grind, while useful as a way of keeping people motivated, isn't such a huge factor in actual gameplay. You can easily hold your own even with starter guns and no consumables. (I'm not talking about soloing gold with a Shuriken, although people have done that. I mean basic stuff, like playing in a 4-man team on Bronze/Silver and not getting slaughtered despite only having low-level equipment. That's something that doesn't happen in Diablo, which really is all about the gear.)
