Everything is hotkeyed and I can access everything at the touch of a button. Beautiful design. I'm happy.

Looks nice and familiar. 

 

Wonder if we can still drag out the toolbar to make space for more ability slots like we could before. I guess I can't really tell, but it looks a bit more...locked. Can't remember if DA2 had that either.

I do wish there were more slots for abilities though... 8 in DAI vs 30-something in DA2.

I'm preparing myself for the S***storm over 8 abilities, but if they didn't do that, the versions would have been way different.

I don't mind the eight ability max at all, really, since I don't usually use more than that anyway. Plus, it seems like there aren't as many abilities as in previous games, and it appears there are no more sustained abilities, so those won't be taking up room.

I prefer the eight slots myself... So then I don't have to see the spells and abilities I don't use looking at me desperately from the hotbar.

I agree that it would be nice, however the most important thing for me is that I can use each slot with a single keystroke. No opening up menus when I can just hammer the 7 key. :P

I'll reserve judgement until I see how it plays, but the 200+++ abilities! marketing line seems real different if only 8 can be slotted at a time.

Ah, so it was confirmed there were only 8 slots then. Meh. I guess I'll just deal with that. 

 

I guess when I think about it I was only really using a few things I had mapped before anyway.

I noticed that there are only 8 slots for abilities - it's too few in my opinion. :(

I agree that the 8 ability limit is a terrible design decision but it is something unrelated to the UI. It is a poor gameplay decision.

A storm of any kind is probably an overreaction, but why wouldn't taking advantage of the mouse have been a good idea? Differences in content between versions would be a poor decision, but diminishing the UI for one version to accommodate shortcomings in others seems strange.

It looks nice, though, well set out etc. hopefully we can expand but if not, well, there are worse things in this world.

Is that only 8 or maybe a set of 8 slots? I have played games where a shift button would display an alternate set of slots.

 

If it is only 8 then I do not understand why they would do that

Because it probably has nothing to do with console mapping and is a design decision.
