Someone needs to learn what "straw man" means.

Hint: When I'm using direct quotes... that's not a "straw man".

Are you serious? When did ANYONE say the devs "needed our permission" to put stuff in the game? It's you who needs to pick up the dictionary or think before you post.

Clearly no, because the Inquisitor will forget some.

If by "forget some" you mean "determines that using cone of cold vs an ice dragon isn't the best idea, and so prepares fire spells instead", sure.

If you want to play a brain damaged Inquisitor, good for you.

I'm going to be playing a strategic Inquisitor.

How does the Inquisitor forget anything? All the skills are still clearly there, accessible before and after combat. That you cannot change between your skillsets in a battle does not mean you've forgotten anything.

Smh, I'm done here

It's Dragon Age: Pokemon style.

Even more so in MP since you literally only know 4 moves.

Actually they have 8 slots

Mike specifically did say "DAI" (not just DA).  Other parts of this includes things like health regeneration being altered and stuff like that and changes to healing system.

So is this the result of expanding the levels? Meaning exploration is now meant to more hazardous?

No, but the local farmer will tell you that the bandit is, say, a Templar.

Then, because you are presumably capable of analysis, you would outfit your team accordingly.

But then psych, he was trolling you and it happens to be abominations two clicks south of the village and now your abilities are locked out of choice.

NO. ONE. IS. TRYING. TO. STOP. ALL. NEGATIVE. FEEDBACK. FOR. ****'S. SAKE.

There is plenty of negative feedback here. There are plenty of people posting insults towards people who like the change and to BioWare devs too.

The first is fine.

The second is not.

Jfc.

Err, I watched this thread for quite some time

The insults at people who like the change started only then you started insulting people who are not happy about the change

As for the insults towards devs. Welp, only like one-two people threw them and the rest acted pretty civil, if bitter

You're the ony overreacting and using, geez, caps lock

They communicated fine. They clearly told you it's 8 abilities per character, and tweeted that the limitation allows for plenty of tactical options within your party as a whole while still requiring you to plan ahead as is the theme for DA's gameplay.

Yeah.  Definitely not something worthy of a blog post.  That's a bit over the top.

How did you rationalize lore-wise cooldowns?

It doesn't matter who did it first. And I wasn't just referring to insults at the devs as you can clearly see from my "all parties involved" phrase.

But for christ's sake, quit trying to ruin it for the people that still are going to buy the game.

Ruining the game for people , how? By people raging, complaining or posting their disappointment of the PC UL? Overreacting much.

I also wonder about stealth if that takes up a slot, what about dodge or that alchemist teleport away from battle ability. Taking these defensive abilities mean you will have even less for attack to choose from that does not seem that tactical to me.

I think it looks awesome. I'm not going to lie, I am disappointed in only 8 slots like many others. It's no earth-shattering disappointment though and I'll just have to suck it up. But other than that, yeah everything looks great! I'm happy just to finally see it, lol

"DA:O didn't have this, DA2 didn't have this, DA:I shouldn't have this."

"Why NOW? Why THIS GAME?"

"I'll just wait til someone has modded this out of the game."

"BioWare is just sucking EA's ****"

Well, all but that last one are examples of people stating that they know how to make a game better than the devs, and that they didn't give approval for this change, so the devs are wrong to make it.

The last one is just you being an ass.

Which is why you talk to more than one farmer. Which is why you examine the corpses along the road. Which is why you talk to your companions.

Or, you bring along a broad enough skillset to handle anything.

Mmm, I can just imagine how wonderful the game industry would be if people actually followed your advices and all negative feedback was censored

Never learning from mistakes, never listening to complaints of gamers, that would definitelly make the games progress and become better

for real, only one-two complainers acted jerkish, yet every "suck-it-up-already" so far acts like they have some moral superiority which gives the ma reaso nto act like jerks

Negative feedback doesn't need to be offered in a hostile way though.

Combat has been the one thing I've been worried about with this game because it didn't look tactical enough. Now that it's confirmed we only have eight abilities mapped, I also know it won't have the depth of Dragon Age: Origins, or even the dumbed down Dragon Age II. I'm very worried now, and my excitement for the game has gone down significantly.

Depth of combat mechanics has never been the strength of the DA franchise. It's always been a bit unbalanced and prone to janky set-ups, combos, and flat out OP abilities. DA is about the story and the characters, the gameplay is just the vehicle for delivering the story.

You either weren't watching, or you simply ignored the people who were making useless rage posts so you can try and scream "censorship" now.

Which is it?

In that expanding the levels meaning the game has placed a lot more focus on exploration than previous Dragon Age games then that's probably a fair way of looking at it.

But it's not a global cooldown. You can use another ability right away. So exhaustion doesn't really work as an explanation.

Skillset doesn't have meaning i-game, how would you "swap skillsets" ? You have skills, you should be able to have accesss to them when the situation calls, you don't "swap skillsets" it's a purely gameplay notion, not a in-universe notion.

Guess you'll have to do some improvisation and use your more general skills to deal with an unexpected situation...Which sounds like something that adventurers would have to deal with.
