having to go to a menu before every fight to swap out abilities would be so frustrating and tedious.

Well, if they've limited us to 8 abilities that's what we'll have to do. It's equally as frustrating and tedious, IMO, to have to go back to camp to replenish my potions since they're limited.
But really, it probably depends on the fight. I didn't use some of my spells but a few times here and there and had my base spells mapped at all times. I can't picture changing them every fight in this game.
So IF it turns out that PC gamers will be able to access more than 8 abilities, why would they restrict console gamers in such a way? Especially since we could just use the radial menu in previous games?
Such confusion. Need more clarification.
Uh is radial menu for console not a thing anymore? I could have sworn I had seen it in one of the demos.
I don't see it making any sense for BioWare to design a different game for the keyboard and mouse as opposed to the controller on the exact same platform, namely the PC. With the market being the way it is and console gamers being a far bigger market I just can't see them spending resources on making the keyboard and mouse version different from the controller version. You do understand the ui limitation is based on gameplay type not plateform type, right?

There's been some changes to the radial menu and how it works.
I play on PC, I don't want your console limitations.
From my understanding, consoles weren't limited in the past either. It's a deliberate design choice for all platforms.

The radial is, using abilities from it is not.

DA2 did console UI a lot better and didn't limit anything... neither did DAO with the radial menu either...
Even if it's "tactical," it feels like a really artificial way to enforce it. This isn't the Vancian system where you have to memorize your spells between adventures. You're not choosing what equipment to take with you. These are combat techniques your character knows from experience. But suddenly you can only remember any eight of them for any given encounter, so hey it'd be really nice to use Twin Fangs to make two giant holes in this guy's stomach, but I seem to have forgotten how to do it? It's stupid.

It's still there, but you can't select talents/spells to use in combat from it anymore.

You didn't get stuck with 8 abilities to map because of consoles. Consoles got stuck with 8 abilities too.

UGH ! So we ARE freaking limited to 8 abilities ? WHY ?
The radial menu is still a thing, but you can no longer bring up the radial skill/spell menu to see all of your abilities as you could before. You're limited to skills/spells you assign to the 8 slots.
Wth whyyyyyyyyyy?! ![]()

Only 8? Really? Why Bioware?
And no mod to change this. Really Bioware? Why?!?!

PC Question 3: Why 8? A: 32 abilities (along with passives/upgrades) across the party provides a broad spectrum of tactical options.
I was right.
Diabilo is an action rpg, dragon age is point and click. The games have different processing.
Hate to break it to you but DA:I is looking like it's leaning more toward Action RPG than past titles in the series.

.... have you read this thread? It's the same for PC players now
THERE'S OVER 200 SPELLS AND ABILITIES
But you can only map 8 of them LOL.
Seriously? Ugh. It's gonna be annoying to switch spells in and out...
This quoting of 200 spells and abilities is pretty foolish. Find out how many abilities or spells can be used by each class and go from there.
8 abilities people.... 8!
Don't tell me that's not enough for a fight.
