So since we will eventually get threads for all of the MP classes, I thought I'd start the discussion on the Alchemist.  It appears as if she is a dwarf female dual wield rogue and in her selection screen, she's holding a bomb.

 

To me, she is the most interesting character for a few reasons:

 

1.)  I suspect that her story will be tied to the Glavonaks, since Dworkin was the dwarf who invented the bomb explosives in DA: A.  It will be interesting to see how she's related to their story.  Perhaps she's his daughter or sister and an inventor in her own right?

 

2.)  This type of combat is fairly unique in DA.  Yes, you can use bombs in the other games, but to have a character rely so heavily on these skills will be interesting.

 

What do people think about this character?  I'm interested in hearing what people think the specs and abilities will be like.

Sounds similar to the grenade class from ME3 mp.

This could open up a whole new way to play a rogue class, granted I have had characters use lots of traps and that but nothing as to rely on them as a massive skill set.

You know up until this thread I thought the alchemist was a human, until you mentioned the Glavornaks and I then realized her face tattoos weren't for show and she's probably a casteless dwarf.

Not gonna lie.  All of my dwarven lady Wardens had the "Anora" hair style because it was the closest that I could get to having two long pigtail braids, just like the Alchemist has......  I'm a fan of this gal, for sure.

Anyone unlock her yet?  Any news on the mechanics or backstory for this character?

DAMP character are not specialisations of SP. Their personal trees are mix of certain selected skills from all over their main class trees and specializations.
Almost sure She will get:
All elexier spells and majority tempest skills (she is tempest oriented and MP Tempest representative) ,WotT skill from artificer, and some stuff from sabotage, and some skills from DW , probably something not-stealth oriented, may be parry stuff, since Hunter and Assassin are more stealth guys who combine stealth with assassin tree or trap artificer tree (hunter)
Hunter will be ranged, stealthy, trap and poison wielding . Skills normally and probably won't be duplicated, so its possible that she will use right bottom knife sundering stuff from sabotage, or may be she will use poison and knives go to hunter, but that's less likely IMO. Commoner dwarf knife stuff sounds more reasonable.
She and Necro are most intriguing characters for me I going to unlock 1st
Assuming that she will incorporate majority of Tempest tree she won't have many for others, so my guess would me parry DW, may be knocking stuff from right part of subrefuge, or poison or knife stuff from sabotage, and single passive from artificer.

I'm interested in the Alchemist and Katari. But I am getting a feeling Katari will be quite standard "berserker" class and a dwarfen female rouge weilding bombs is a more interesting concept.

 

Definitely the first character I'll unlock if I will have to craft the armor myself.

That flask is not bomb but flask from Tempest tree. Alchemist is MP Tempest representative (she going to incorporate most stuff from Tempest)

According to her description she seems to have all poison stuff from Sabotage tree including explosive upgrade in addition to Tempest stuff and some DW dagger stuff. NOW this sounds neat.

Also, if the Alchemist has some DoT then she can probably have some soloing potential.

tempest is dual Dagger tree ie speed tree fast squishy

Tempest is tempest specialization. This means she will share a lot of stuff which are not archery with Sera. Tempest specialization , Poison and some DW. And probably WotT skill from Artificer

this is tempest SP tree, but in mp characters have mix from all SP trees of their class

Also I would not hurry to state that she is "with bombs" because what been confirmed that she will have mix of existing sp abilities from certain sp trees and nothing new. May be she will be char that unlocks MP potion crafting

Okay, so they just went with some Witcher-like alchemy.

 

Disappointed, I wanted to throw bombs.

But I still think that on the portrait she's definitely holding a bomb and her description also hints at that.
