Yeah, the Juggernaut's not the problem, it's how people use it.

There was a guy on reddit yesterday complaining that the Jug is the only really weak kit that can't put out good damage. I kept trying to explain how to use it offensively, for example as a hybrid weapons/caster and not as a melee tank, but he just didn't get it.

There are very few characters that can solo gold without shooting. Kroguard/geth is easy part and actually, I don't know of any other, apart from juggy, that can solo gold on PC against at least cerberus. I think, paladin should be able to do it against geth as well. That might be not that hard, I'm certainly going to try. Objectives would be the tricky part, at least for me.

 

Edited: Probably, flame trooper or vorcha should do well against reapers. Might need to take shield evo on the flamer though,  not sure.

 

Soloing Gold without using guns is doable with all kits, it's just going to take ages in some cases.

I seriously doubt it. Well, at least, nobody has tried seriously. Also it depends on whether enemies are actually shooting back at you, so there is an obvious limitation at about 60 fps.

 

On a side note, I'd say that KroLord of course has even an easier time against geth than KroGuard. Well, they are on a same time frame of around 25-30 min for glacier/gold for me. Maybe, paladin can do it faster.

You underestimate my power

Just give it an honest try? Maybe it'll work for you? You are an expert in GI melee and a way better player than me. It at least gives you something new to do after 1000+ hours.

Claiming the Jugg was bad because it "trivialized" the game on difficulties under Platinum is a hypothesis I would reject.

 

Jugg has survivability and one "pretty good" power.

 

I would submit that grenade characters "trivialize" Bronze through Gold to a much larger extent than a slow, tanky character with one pretty good power.  There's even a character with ridiculous grenades and tactical cloak.

 

Then there are two biotic characters with a cheesy-as-hell-AOE-always-on-insta-override primer.  One can teleport through walls because "reasons."

That was actually harder than I thought. But I'm not that good of a player. Also, wrong build, wrong map, stunlock, etc. I died twice trying to melee hunters as they don't get hit by ED while cloaked and that was very annoying. Anyhow, done on the first try that is good enough for me and the time can be improved. Objectives were escort (w3), targets (w6) and pizza  (w9). Died twice on w4, once on w6 due to hiding rocket trooper target triple rocketing me and twice on w9 due to stunlock. I stopped trying to melee after wave 4 and it took quite some time kiting.

Glacier with fire shield should be way faster depending on objectives.

It can be done with any character. It will take hours and lots of patience with some, though...

The Volus Merc on the other hand has to have an awful lot of patience with his not so lethal Decoy - Combat Drone - Love Bubble arsenal.

Possibly. But, under the assumption that you'd at least get to pick map and enemy, geth would make for a rather easy one...

Nope, disagree here as your assumption is purely theoretical. I understand how precious your weapon's manifest is, well so is mine, as it is not completely useless.

 

Probably, the most pathetic damage award might belong to volus adept as his biotic orbs are really lame on their own and the only reasonable means to kill an armored target is through batarian gauntlet. He is tanky though. Volus mercenary is actually quite good. As I said previously, silver solo versus geth is doable at around 30 minutes. I doubt volus adept can do it on bronze against any enemy. Actually, I seriously doubt that many characters can do it. How's about drell god without xplosions? IIRC, clusters do not prime and neither does biotic charge.

I got curious and tried to do a volus merc solo with the use of drone and decoy only. Specced both for shock and suicide. Equipped power amp IV, shuriken with power magnifier mod and geth scanner, and set the mission to geth/glacier. Took me 37 minutes to clear the first 5 waves - I used one spawn nuke on wave 5, and one to clear out wave 5 towards the end (because fk double primes). Wave 6 turned out to be devices, at which point I quit.

 

So, it is doable but would've easily taken another 50 minutes to finish it - so a 90+ min solo on glacier.
