Does anyone think it's going to be over at the start of the game?

The game begins with a gigantic explosion which decimates the Urn of Sacred Ashes Temple along with its surrounding area, killing thousands. Thousands is an awfully large number for what's implied to be a peace conference between the Mages and the Templars. Is it possible both groups have been (mostly) eradicated by the beginning of the game?

That would be a good way to make sure the war isn't the focus of the game.

What do you think?

Nah, Cameron Lee said that we deal with it early, but not that early.

I bet most of the leadership was there, even if not entirely over, I bet that's how they explain the war being smaller scale

Unlikely. Some of the Inquisition (side?) quests involve the war.

The gameplay trailer at E3 showed the war is still going on and its been confirmed the Inquisitor will end the war, so no it won't be over at the start of the game.

It'd be interesting how the larger effects of so many Templars and Mages being killed affects things, though.

I hope not . Hell I want this game to be around the war between the Mages and the Templar . That's what I was dying to see . A closure to DA2 . And see the consequences of Anders actions and everything going to hell with the world because of it .

One thing I was afraid of , was that a new vilain show up that force the concerned party to hold hand and they fight it together . So , time will tell . But I'm hoping I get my war .

oh gods please no

Act 3 was a train wreck, and the Mage/templar issue has always been a forced one

I, honestly, hope it's 90% Templars and Mages.

Because I don't much care for anything else.

The remaining 9% can be Elfpolitics.

1% for Evil Demon God.

Then I never want any Templar/Mage stuff again.

Sorry that you saw it like that . But maybe it won't be so bad . Maybe they can introduce it in a better way...more smoothly . I mean , you really think the game will be about something else ? So everything Anders did...just gone Pouf! ?

What do you think?

Cameron Lee stated the player can side with one of the factions to bring an end to the conflict during Inquisition, and can even bring that faction to become a part of the Inquisition. Lee said, "You can bring an end to the conflict between the mages and the templars once and for all very early on in the game. You can align with one of those."

Anders wasn't even the ultimate cause of the rebellion, that was retconned in a book

the game will be about closing the breach, not dealing with mages and templars, again

If they keep killing each other all it does is weaken the veil more despite already having a big hole and continue a endless cycle senseless chaos it really needs to end. May sit down and eat some pie and talk, then maybe if that fail go back to killing eachother

1% for Evil Demon God.

What evil demon god? The Elder One?

We don't actually know what he is, only what he thinks of himself.

I'm sure it will be like something like the Quarian and Geth war in ME 3, one choice will wipe out the mage side, another wipes out the templars side and another can result in a cease fire and peace though we know there will never be true peace between mages and templars unless they come up with something in the game to bring true peace between them

Yeah kind of I mean I could tell even in Origins that the Mage and Templar thing would be a main arch at some point

I, honestly, hope it's 90% Templars and Mages.

Basde on what has been said  DAI is more than likely going to be 95% about The Breach

maybe 10% or less Mage-Templar War since it will come to an end at a early point in the game.

such a cop out

I'd prefer to see one or the other, no middle ground

But we never saw the war as such . So how can it be enough ? Unless there was a game after DA2 I missed..........

I doubt it's going to end that quickly. If anything by the end of the game whoever you side with will most likely have upper hand in the war.

I'm pretty sure its been confirmed by the devs that you put an end to the war early in game
