it doesn't end THAT early in game and from what the devs said the Inquisition are the reason the war ends

Does anyone think it's going to be over at the start of the game? (...) Is it possible both groups have been (mostly) eradicated by the beginning of the game?
This is my wildest pipe dream. I want nothing to do with this subplot. I want both sides gone. I want nothing more than for DA:I to be 0.005% about mages and templars, and 5000% about anything else.

I though the Inquisition was born from the war . Wasn't it ? that the consequence of the war = Inquisition called or born or watever you wanna name the action of it appearing all of the sudden .
Oh well..let's hope it doesn't end that early in the game . Hey we still can smooche right ? YAY! I'm gonna console myself with that ! ![]()

I think it's overexposed but like Wolverine, too much Mages and Templars doesn't mean I still don't like Wolverine.

Im led to belief that you decide who wins
You are. Cameron Lee said, "You can bring an end to the conflict between the mages and the templars once and for all very early on in the game. You can align with one of those." 1:40 mark.

I think what Willowhugger means is that the explosion causes the end of the war in that it probably killed off the Mage and Templar leadership which severely weakened both sides making it possible for the Inquisition to end the war.

It's not like Mages and Templars are eternal unchanging institutions.

Mages are, unless the Fade will be completely sealed off from the physical world
but my skepticism is mostly because the writers seem fond of this conflict

I think it's likely they've said everything they can about this particular conflict. So, in future games both the Templars and the Mages will still exist but their conflict will have ended one way or the other rather than one side or the other being wiped out. Templars will still hunt rogue mages and Mages will still have Circles.
They can't really write it any way or another.
The question is who which answers to.

Wolverine's changed over time. You wouldn't even recognize him from 50 years ago. The mages x templars conflict, though, is stagnant. Redundant. Still dying on the same hills as it ever was. Still hitting exactly the same notes in the exact same tone since 2009, and I can't stand hearing this song anymore.
Thedas is amazing. Have you read the encyclopedia? There is so much world, so much history, so many peoples and so many cultures, so many conflicts and problems and factions and struggles and forces to explore that we haven't even brushed over yet. But no. We can't move on and explore this insanely rich and interesting world we have, because we're still stuck here, arguing about templars and mages. A whole universe to explore out there, and we're still pulling each other's pigtails over this same drama, still going boo-hoo poor mages woooo no evil mages, like a broken record. It's a tragedy, is what it is.
PS: I know I'm in the absolute minority, for hating this conflict and being sick and tired of it dominating everything about this game. But well, you asked if anyone thought it was possible... I don't actually think it's possible, because BW loves to milk this cow, but I sure do wish it would happen. ![]()

I strongly doubt that we can end the conflict. I mean, maybe we can end the war, but not the conflict itself. It's not just "Templars wanting revenge on mages for what Anders did and if I choose a diplomatic option the Templars will understand the errors of their ways and the mages will return to the Circles". You can't just convince the whole population that mages deserve freedom and rights like other people; you can't argue with lyrium-addicted templars; you can't kill all mages (though it's possible to kill most of the Templars and eradicate the Order).
I just hope we can argue with our companions/advisors on the importance of our quest. What if my Inquisitor is a radical mage or templar supporter and he will refuse to lead Inquisition until the conflict is resolved? Our, given choice of several missions, he will first deal with those having connection to the Mage-Templar conflict and will let the rest of the world burn?

This ^
The war can and will end, but the conflict never will. Mages are always suseptable to demon possession and people will always be wary of their presence. The Templars do need to do their job and keep some sort of tab on the existing mages if not purely to ensure the safety of others. As such, Mages will always feel the pressure put onto them by the Templar order and as such, some mages will always rebel.
The conflict will never end, I assure you that. I dont think Biowareh as any intentions of allowing us to end the conflict.

Yeah, I imagine if the Mages win they'll have autonomy but they'll STILL need the Templars to hunt Rogue Mages for them.
Which would, in practical terms, mean the only thing different is the Templars don't have authority over them but are doing the same damn job they always did.
Which would make the war seem....kind of pointless.
I also see this as the most likely outcome with the final result like Irving and Gregoir were portrayed. Mostly equal.
Still, wars have been fought over much less and I think it'll be the end of the conflict in the games.

Long as the war includes me sliding a blade through Fiona's face i really don't care if it ends in DAI or no.
I would prefer it end quickly though, the Mages and Templars need to return to normalcy, and once the Mages are thrown back into the circles, maybe just maybe it can go back to that and they can spend their energy more productively.
By killing demons.

The Templars have a place in my new order. If anyone harms a mage, it will be the Templars place to hunt them down and execute them.
The Templars will defend and protect the Mage Overlords, serving as the vanguard of our army to DOMINATE ALL THEDAS!

That didn't work out very for the Tevinters.
Mostly because Mages are pretty rare, not the one for every five hundred for Qunari, but still pretty rare.
There are plenty of normal folks who can just shove a yard of steel into the heart and deal with a mage then there are mages.

I want that too . I'm not some drone that want the Geth vs Quarians war over and over . But I just want a closure to the dilema between the 2 . Is that a crime ![]()
And I agree with you 100% . But only time will tell . For now , I stay hopeful . Who know , maybe the way they will handle the whole thing and end it soon and introduce something new shortly afterward will leave me speechless and wanting more lol I'm really not that difficult .

I expect it's Mage vs. Templar night
Then it'll be Elf Night.
Then it'll be Warden Night again.
Then off to Qunari night.
