I'll probably move to PS4, but not for a while.

I'd get a PC, but then I'd have to own something that uses Microsoft Windows. Puke.

I couldn't have said it better myself. PS4 all day. To the TC (and any who didn't have a PS3) I'd HIGHLY recommend playing TLOU when/if you get a PS4. A masterpiece of a game and is one of those "must play ASAP" titles.PS 4 has the superior hardware. You'll get the most mileage in graphic potential with the PS 4 and the closest experience you'll have to PC wen compared to Xbox.
PS 4's subscription is cheaper than that of Xbox's.
PS 4's exclusives seems to be the major reason behind it outselling the Xbox one 3 to 1.. Graphics and cheaper subscription is great and all but it all comes down to the games, the exclusive games and the majority of consumers including myself prefer the PS 4 exclusives over XBOX.
I advise you to check out the PS4 vs Xbox exclusives cuz I'm pretty sure ME 4 isn't the only game you'll get...
Edit* You didn't hint at any other game, just ME 4. If yer considering spending $400 to play just one game then just stick to PC and spend $60 instead...

I don't know anything about Xbox1, but I'm already finding that PS4 is somewhat... problematic. They dropped the media functionality, so you can no longer use your Sony for audio/video files or photos (which is inexplicable), there's a major issue with the battery life of the controllers, and as marskmad already mentioned, the security issues with PSN. If I already had a legit gaming PC I'd stick with that, otherwise I'd just wait and see and decide based on what games are available for each system further down the line- its just too early to say much at this point.

How much do you guys typically spend on a new PC?
For me around $2,000 was enough to get my monster PC assembled but a $1000 PC can easily outperform the PS4 as well.

That's around the range of how much I would like to spend on a new pc, maybe slightly more.

My current PC is a fossil, at least for games. Lacks in memory and a good graphic card, hence why I'm looking at other options. I just want a PC that can last a few years, whilst being able to virtually any game on a high level.
All you need is a decent CPU preferably Intel i7, at least 16 Gb of RAM and a High End GPU ($500 and above) and you are set for the entire generation of consoles but it is better that you upgrade your GPU again in 2-3 years time just to stay at the high end of gaming performance.

Has anyone managed to get ME3 working decently under Wine? Ther reports on WineHQ seemed mixed to unclear. But if anyone knows how, please share.

The PS4 may be new, but it runs on top of the same PSN. Can one trust it not to be full of holes? Well, I wouldn't. And that's a dealbreaker for me. Not that I actually like the X1 very much either. The fact is that all three console makers have let us down with this generation. And MS spoiled PC gaming with Windows 8. I guess we need to pray to Saint Jobs that Apple will decide to build a games console.

Introducing the new iConsole2, exactly the same as last year's iConsole but now available in a small selection of colours. And only twice the price of the original!

My point was that it will be just as crappy as all the alternatives, but unlike with those, we will feel happy and privileged to be allowed to buy one.

but a $1000 PC can easily outperform the PS4 as well.

A $1000 PC will outperform anything in it's price bracket (as long as it's not built by a complete moron), let alone something that costs 2.5x less. Perhaps a more apt comparison would have been a $500 PC, since once you get a PS4, PS+ subscription, and a game or two, you're already over that number.

I will be honest that $500 PCs cannot play games as well as a PS4 or even an Xbox One so you are better off getting a console if $500 is your budget. But if you spend at least $750, you can get a PC that outperforms the consoles easily and still ends up being cheaper in the long run. Since you can do so much more with PCs than just play games paying that extra money is well worth the investment. Combine this with free online and much cheaper games PC actually ends up being both much cheaper and performs better.

Most likely gonna stick to the PC, yes. I just wanted to see what everyone has to say. Some people absolutely hate on the PC or any of the other consoles. I merely want people to state why their console is the best/most fun.PC

Also having a pc means one machine for everything - whether desktop or laptop.
Having a console means needing two machines - one console for games, and one pc for your everyday tasks/work.
Sometimes people tend not to factor in the price for that so a single PC capable of playing games can work out cheaper than needing two machines. I'm a minimalist so having one machine appeals to me - easy to take care of.
