As for the last romance option, it would most likely be Vivienne and she will be gated towards male only. Not because of lack of equality but because that is Vivienne and that is what she is. From Vivienne's drive to be ambitious and climb up the political ladder, it makes sense that she pick the human noble man as a love interest because they can help her further her political goals.

Cheers.

This is an interesting point, but if a Vivienne romance were about her trying to obtain more political power then surely any Inquisitor would do that.

The Inquisitor is going to be one of the most powerful political forces in Thedas, if Vivienne is so ambitious as to romance an Inquisitor for power then she wouldn't necessarily have any regard for race or gender.

That is true, and it's still a possibility for one the already announced LIs to be race-gated

It can be as simple as Solas wanting to have elven children which can only happen with an elven woman.

Agreed.  I tend to think that if Vivienne is the last LI, she'll be bisexual and ungated.  I think she'll be ungated for this exact reason.  Who better to boost her position than the Inquisitor, regardless of race.

I am sure Bioware can make characters with various motivations and sexuallities.

They could also make Solas do not want children therefore not wanting to be with an elven woman.

But they didn't. :/

Solas is probably elf-gated for some reason concerning his dreaming / the Fade / his magic.  There's probably something to his powers that will come into the romance, something he'd only want to share with a Dalish.  I can't imagine how him wanting "pure elf babies" would be related to the story in any possible way.

I did not expect that. Dang... Now I seriously doubt Blackwall is a romance. ]:

Can we stop the "ok there's enough inclusion now there won't be anymore gay/bi characters"?

There's never enough inclusion and I'm pretty sure straight people have had the majority of options for a very long time (side gaming existed). I would love to see Blackwall be gay, but that is entirely unlikely because no matter how much Bioware says they don't care/they want to be exclusive, at the end of the day the straight white male is the majority of the market (don't say it's not by using reference of these forums because this place represents a very small minority of players).

Hoping for Blackwall to be bi, or even Vivienne. I won't be disappointed if whoever the next one is turns out to be straight because that's just how it is. The minute when people stop talking about how a certain threshold of inclusion has been reached, is when we know we've truly come far.

I have yet to see any evidence that being gay would be seen as a negative in Orlesian noble culture. The only reason Celene's affair was potentially scandalous was because she was sleeping with an elf.

It would be scandalous even if it was with a human woman because that would preclude Celene marrying any of the male Orlesian nobility. Which many nobles would find an affront. Worst, is Celene is romancing a commoner and the nobles would reject even a male commoner as weaking the royal bloodline.

Then how convenient for Vivienne that she is not the empress of Orlais

It's not, being gay is considered a interesting quirk in Orlais.

You know, if we take our expectations off and try to view our followers as actual people in a world with their own personalities, own idiosyncrasies and own quirk, we would see that it does not make any sense for them to have love and romantic choices that caters to us or rather, caters to the Inquisitor's whim. It would not make sense for them to be equal since they are their own characters, not just Inquisitor's playthings.

Before anyone comes and labels me as homophobe or anti-equalist or whatever labels they want to, my planned default Inquisitor is a male Dalish elf mage who will be a bachelor. So I really have no reason to spew BS.

Which means I am not saying this out of spite or hatred, I am saying this because this is the direction Bioware wants to take their characters. They want to make them their own person as opposed to completely subscribing to a trope or an ideology. A person almost always has a mix of tropes they identify with or that others identify with.

In case of Solas, he seems to be an introverted and intellectual elf. However, this does not preclude the possibility of him being open minded intellectually does not mean he has an open view towards sexuality. That is neither a bad thing nor a good thing, its just his thing. Its Solas' thing.

There is a contraction in your argument you said they should not cater to us but somehow you say that the last romance is probably Vivienne, how can you know this, it could be male. If it is Vivienne than that is to cater to males no? and why you think this is? oh wait to have equal options no? so yes this is cater all the same.

Yeah, if you include all of mobile gaming. The big tipple A gaming titles are still around 80% male.

Does Orlais have a stigma against nobles having lovers on the side? I assumed they didn't, but that's entirely due to me making an assumption. But if I'm right, then Celene's lover wouldn't preclude her from a political marriage, would it?

Additionally, if you think Vivienne would only be with a man politically in order to create a baby.

Why would she want to be married and have children with a non-noble millitary leader?

well it would be possible if she were also race gated since the human inquisitor is of noble blood, as for the mages no longer being considered noble I'm sure an exception can be made since the Circles are gone and the inquisitor is the head of an incredibly powerful organization.

not saying i support it, just saying that it's possible.

That just means AAA gaming needs to expand its appeal.

He still could be. There is now way options are equal for all sexualities/genders at this point, so it's really just a matter of who gets extra sad times. For all we know BW could be gay and it'd be lesbians and straight men who have one less option instead of gay men. (At this point I'd be surprised if Vivienne wasn't a straight LI, but I've been surprised before.)

Nop it is scandalous to be with an elven servant. If you read the last book you can see that.

Not sure how one expands the appeal of games like CoD, Battlefront, and other war games.

Well I stand corrected. I'd like to see the data used in that study, but that's encouraging. I'm glad then all those feelings of entitlement are fading away.

TO be fair though 35/36% is no big difference so my point in part still stands. And it would still be unreliable to rely on this as something that really refutes my argument.

She considered the prospect of marrying Gaspard so I assume the answer to that is no.
