That's just a physical trait. That's not what being "elven" means, anymore than being a member of any particular culture or group IRL is reducible to just physical features.

As for romances:

 

Honestly I just want them to announce the last LI know. We know everyone except the last person. Sooooon hopefully.

If they don't learn the proper way of flaying then a electrical blast to the face is the punishment.

 

I'm leaning towards Blackwall being the last one,but Vivienne has that Morrigan vibe in regards to romance so it can go either way.

When every other demographic has more choices, you're still making that your lowest priority. And Bioware has only offered gay romances in a small amount of their own games. While their were same sex options for females in all 3 ME games, males only got options in the last. It's been pretty clear over Bioware's history that gay men are the first to get shorted, consistently.  

 

I don't see gay players ever having more romance option than straights since gays are not the majority of Bioware's players. That said, having two romance options as a gay player is still great news. Unless your saying a BI LI doesn't count. Furthermore, theres no need for having exactly the same amount of LI options for Males/Females, of every sexual orienation. This is not Romance Age, Biowares premire dating sim game. There is going to be a limited number of romances so they can't make everyone have the same number of options. Still, gay players are only getting 1 less LI option. Just one, when in other games, even bioware games, they've had zero.

 

Keep in mind that there is no trangendered romance nor an asexual romance while gay men will have TWO options. Thats far from having the lowest priority.

So am I, considering that I've heard it stated before that overall, the gender difference for gamers has been a 49/51 percent split. Yes, there are more male gamers, sure. But really not by much more, and not in this day and age when there is so much more to offer everyone.

If Vivienne is Bi they would mathematically have the least number of options, de facto less content than other options.

 

Which is why Vivienne is going to be Straight just like Cass. lol Problem avoided.

No it wouldn't be. Blackwell being gay would give gay men three options while straight males and Lesbians would only get two options.

Homosexual people are a minority. Why should they be represented in a game as equally abundant as straight people? Having 2 homosexual and 2 bisexual characters out of 8 possibilities, is already more than enough in terms of representation. It means that every possible peson have at least two options. Considering, that in many games 2 options are all that is for any character to have (KotOR, NWN2, DA2 unless you're bisexual...), I'm suprised we're even having this discussion.

I mean, 15 years ago, it was unimaginable to even have a homosexual romance in an RPG. Now you have two in the game, and yet you complain that it should be equal? For what reason?

That was what I was trying to address. When its stated the gender difference for gamers is a 49/51 split, a majority of those female gamers are from mobile games. A lot of the big name games that have stated their players stats have around 70-80 percent males. Thats all I was saying.

I simply meant that yes, there needs to be a lot more done to accommodate women and get more women into the big name titles every year. I don't want people hearing that statistic and saying, Ha, theres gender equality in gaming now, no need to continue to press companys to be more inclusive in their marketing.

I'm not addressing every point you make but I will say this: homosexuality is a minority in our real world. In Thedas, that isn't stated. Its a fictional world, who knows? Maybe there are bisexual people in Thedas then our world. Just saying, you're assuming they're alike in that even though that's never been stated. There is also no homophobia in Thedas either.

This still doesn't really answer where you're getting your stats though.

 

Oh, you probably missed a post of mine with the article from CoD saying their players are about 1/4 women. Thats just one example and I could post more if you want but it would be besides my point. and that is that more still needs to be done to get more women playing the big name titles. Since theres plenty of interest from women in gaming, it raises questions of why aren't more woman playing the big name titles and what could they do to get more woman buying their games. After all, more female players = more profit.

I feel sorry for the folks that refuse to play as a different race/gender/sexual orientation. As for me I'm glad I can roleplay as anyone I want to.

I play as female characters in various RPGs. One peculiar thing I've noticed is that I make 17% less money for completing tasks/jobs/quests than I do if I play as a male character.

I hope everyone gets options that make them happy I hope Vivienne is Bi as a Straight male I honestly want to Romance her In DAI but I am down with Viv being available both genders I just hope if she is a LI and is Bi I hope shes not racegated to humans because my Dwarf/Qunari Inquisitors need somebody to love.

With Solas being Race gated to Elves who do you guys think will be the other one will be my guess is Cullen I can see him Racegated  to either Humans/Elves or just Humans what do you guys think.
