I would like Blackwall to be an option for female characters, but he probably wont be assuming bioware wants to keep the gender options even.
They don't make decisions based on whether or not people will complain, otherwise they would have made Varric a romance, lol.
IMO until the Bianca matter is settled Varric should be untouchable. Plus rather enjoy characters who are loyal.
I just think it'd be nice for once to have a strong plot centric female companion who you actually can't have sex with.

Because I thought that what we would have is 4 bi, 2 straight and 2 gay romances, not the other way around. Not that I am complaining, just surprised.

It could be Blackwall, who could be bi or gay (unlikely to be a third straight guy option) or it could be Vivienne, who could be straight, bi, or gay. I think they are all equally likely at this point. Especially since Solas being straight means that's there no mathematical way for everyone to get the same number of options anyway.

I honestly wasn't expecting any of the LI's to be limited to one specific race/gender combination. Glad its a female elf of all thing though, not a male or a human exclusive.
Before "female only" was announced I thought: 'What on earth could be a justifiable reason to be in to other male elves but not other races?!' but after the gender limitation it makes more sense.
My guess is that Solas is pining for little elven babies, or had a female elven wife/partner in the past who died. Maybe both.

Like I said it made sense, on the other hand if Vivienne is a romance it is probably bi because there is no bi female companion if not, well four straight romances are a lot. I hope now people would shut up with "oh my god the gays are getting attention and I have no options". Now you people have more than anyone, so tone it down a bit.

And then we either have 6 options for females (3 of them homosexual) and 4 options for males (2 of them homosexual); or 5 options for males (3 homosexual) and 5 options for women (2 homosexual). I don't know how that's balanced in any way.
4/2/2 is how I'd see it. Seems to be most realistic, and everyone has at least two options for LI regardless of played race, gender and sexuality.

Elves being race gated are understandable. Elves cannot have elven children with a non-elven partner.
Obviously someone like Zevran didn't give a damn (that guy would hit on literally everyone), but Solas seems to be a little more... conservative.

Except that the 3's aren't even. Straight guys can't romance Cullen or Solas, so it's not even.
Right now:
Straight Male - Cass and Josephine
Straight Female - Cullen, Solas, and Iron Bull
Gay Male - Dorian and Iron Bull
Gay Female - Sera and Josephine
So, it's not even and it can't be given that there's only one LI to be revealed. Don't get me wrong, I'm fine with it being slightly uneven, but I don't see why people think that this means that it has to be either a straight or gay Vivienne.

It will be a tragedy if they make the best looking beefcakeyest (not sure if that's a word but yolo) bearded male companion not romanceable at all.
It would however continue the Bioware trend of making straight male romance options that don't interest me in the slightest, so.
