Well, us straight males don't really have any bangable options. I mean Viviane looks like she was dumped in oil, and Cassandra is self-explanatory, and the only cute one is gay. I think us straight men are just as entitled to complain, when we don't like something.

Oh yeah because we straight males have never gotten the better options in Bioware games, so sad for us to not be favored for once, just because they don't look like barbie dolls your unhappy with the options you have. Heck even though I'm a straight male I'm still going to make a female character to romance Sera and there is also Josephine.

Because you can't find anything positive about Cassandra and Josephine (and possibly Vivienne), does not mean you speak for all straight men in the world. Check out the Cass and Josie threads, see how many straight guys are excited to romance them. Check out the Viv thread, see how many straight guys are hoping she'll be romanceable.

 

You have terrible taste to not find these three ladies absolutely beautiful and desirable, but that's something the game can't fix for you.

BW is under no obligation to provide you, MK II, with wankbait. Not wanting to screw the options is not the same as not having the options. If you must complain, there are at least two other threads for voicing your displeasure with love interests and/or their attractiveness levels.

Actually, since males make up the higher percentage of their players,(and we are paying them money) they, actually, do owe us some '****** bait'.

To get back on track: It was stated at one point that the devs were less concerned with every race and gender option for the PCs having an equal number of potential LIs and more concerned with having more even levels of representation across the orientations. Given Bioware's past games, it seems likely to me that the last LI (whether Vivienne or Blackwall) will be bi.

If it's true that the last LI isn't race-gated, I'd assume that previous posters are correct in that if the LI is Blackwall, Cullen will have a race-gate and if they LI is Viv, Cassandra will have it. It isn't clear whether race-gated always means "To one particular race" or "To a limited set of races" so it's hard to say which is more likely. Given Cullen's crush on both Amell and Surana, it seems unlikely that he's gated against elves. I'm not really buying the "Dalish are too different from City Elves" argument, mostly because only the Dalish themselves seem to draw that kind of distinction. However, he may still be gated against Kossith/qunari and/or dwarves. Cassandra is, if I remember correctly, somehow related to Nevarran nobility; so she may not be interested in non-humans. Honestly, though, I don't know enough about her to do more than speculate wildly, so I'll leave the reasoning on that one to people who are more familiar with her background.

Yet, the status quo is shifting ever so slightly in favour of everyone else who historically got the short end of the stick...

 

I mean, why else do female elven Inquisitors have an extra romance option as of right now?

 

Why else would the development team stray away from conventionally attractive women in favour of more female characters with varied designs and characterisations?

 

Why else would there be even more LGBTQ romances in this game than any other Dragon Age game preceding before it?

Looks like you're gonna have to, dare I say it, accept that the playing field is ever so slowly being levelled out.

Boy, a lot of threads to fear entering today... (Also I say Blackwall should be the last LI and Cullen I imagine being race gated)

I'm totally hoping that the last LI will be Blackwall, and though I haven't really had much hope about him in the past, I have been getting a good feeling about him these past few days. It's a combination of factors:

• if Viv was the last LI, all of the female companions/advisors would be LIs (Leliana was in DAO), and that could send a weird message, that every woman is up for banging you
• Viv is, like many here have laready said, probably the most likely to be race-gated, and if it's true that one of the already announced ones is, then Solas means she's not in
• the mention on a PAX panel the other day about Blackwall being something for those who did not get to be with Duncan (I know they tried to explain it away, but they also tried to explain Solas away and look where we are with him)

So, yeah, I think Blackwall will get the last spot. If he does, I would go ahead and say that the last race-gated LI will be Cullen, because then we have five male LIs and only three female LIs, so it would work out quite well - three of each gender that are not race-gated, and an additional two males who are race-gated.

 

As to Blackwall's sexuality, I'm hoping that he'll be bi. I personally plan to romance him with a femquisitor, but I totally approve of the bara crowd getting a go at him to. I might even romance him two times, once with a femquizzy and once with a male.
