Do we know anything about Blackwall other than he's a Grey Warden with a strong sense of duty? I don't see any way to determine whether or not he is race gated based on what little information we have...

Dorian isn't your normal mage from Tevinter, he is an outcast, a black sheep he doesn't think like the rest, being a noble has nothing to do with race it has to do with class/status in society with Solas being both gender and race gated I doubt they are going to race gate both elves and two female only options and I don't think they will race gate both homosexual choices. The only candidates I see is being a male only option and the unknown one so its either Cass, Vivi or BW

We know that she's highly ambitious and pro-Circle... she's a self-made woman who used cunning to get to a position of prominence in the Orlesian court, one of the most difficult tasks that an outsider could accomplish, I'm guessing... so she has to be pretty intelligent and resourceful. She probably also is not willing to risk that power for the sake of love with a social pariah like an elf or qunari... but that's just my opinion.

I do agree, she probably wouldn't risk all she worked for. Which in my opinion makes me think she wouldn't bother with romance at all.

Yep a human Inquisitor male or female would be a relationship where she could have a powerful mate in the eyes of the world when it comes to political power

Unless there is some secret information we don't know about Blackwall, I think a race gated Vivienne has the strongest case, and therefore will be the final LI. Hopefully bi, but I have no way of predicting that...
I'm sorry, but please do not use blanket statements. There are those who care deeply about equality and about other demographics outside of their own. And yes, that includes some who are in a very privileged position. Believe me when I say that there are a number of us straight women who actually feel guilty about having more options because we're getting it at someone else's expense.
And I do hope you never saw me as being greedy over Blackwall, that is not how I wanted to be interpreted and it's not how I feel about the situation at all.

It's totally okay and nobody should feel guilty because it's not their fault if Bioware does that. But that's just the reality that many among them would be glad to have Blackwall even if it means twice romance than others. Many are bluntly wishing that Blackwall is the romance option for their own fate, regardless of what could have others. ( If you tell me that's not true, you didn't read this forum ). I have absolutely nothing agains that. That's just the reality.

I really think Vivi has the biggest reason to be race gated as far as a story reason goes at this point, she values power and wants to go higher on the political power ladder but she needs a boost, what bigger boost than a human noble Inquisitor

For the record, I am being kind of greedy. I do want to romance Blackwall, but not at any cost. I think I would actually prefer it if he's unavailable instead of straight. As I mentioned before in the thread, I've got no problem if he's gay. I would totally go male for him and Dorian. And I usually never play as a male if I have a choice.
Well this was an interesting read. While it would be nice to see gay men or lesbians getting as many or more options than straights for once I can't say I am overly bothered about this. I am probably gonna play all the romances anyway, the Solas news just means I have found the perfect LI for my female Dalish character.
Maybe Vivienne will be Bi and then the lesbians will get 3 options.

If Vivi is from the Free Marches then might of found another reason for her being race gated to just humans, the human noble's family is also in the Free Marches it would be very easy for a relationship between her and a human inquisitor to have profitable consequences for her
