How about we not prioritize anyone ? Whats done is done for this game and it can't be fixed. But we need to strive for equality in the next Bioware game, not more options than straight people.

I don't think equality can be reduced to the number of options..

Not really, I'm just saying I'll always be biased because I want more options. At the end of the day equality is what we all want but it isn't equal if someone else gets more. One more option isn't too bad though I'll concede that.

this is exactly my point, we can't have equality if we everyone wants more and thinks they deserve more, I've even admitted that I want more and I know this is wrong.

Let me make sure I understand this correctly. You know that it's wrong for inequality to exist, but you won't complain as long as straight males get the last LI? That's what I'm getting from you.

That's disgusting.

I may be misunderstanding, because it's still relatively early here and I'm not completely awake. So apologies if I am.

True, but I don't deserve less now because I had the most before.

Neither do we because we never got any. ^_^

But bioware already did that again, so.

2 for me actually.

I have two too, then with that logical should I say that VIvienne should be a PC Inquisitor female lesbian option only, so I can have 3? that is basically what you are saying. Actually I hope Blackwall is gay, at least one time ever PC gay males are gonna to have more options since ever.

you don't deserve less but maybe other groups, which always get less options, just deserve more one time.

Clearly the best option is to have ZERO romances in DA4.

Everyone will get the exact same number of waifus so no one can claim to be given the short end of the stick.

I've yet to understand why we seek equality in all things.

The bisexuals receiving more romance options than other people is not bad, neither is it a crime for the straight males to lose a romance option. Equality in all things is an impossible feat and i'd rather have the writers write what they feel for instead of saying "We need 2 for everything. Asap, go go".

Talk about manufacturing characters.

Know who else is nice? Cassandra. Nice lady. Likes sharp objects too much but nice. Probably will copy Aimo and go for Cadash and Cassandra. Mostly for cuteness. Yup.

No my point is this I want more but I don't deserve more and neither does anyone else, we all deserve to be equal. So saying that straight people deserve less is from my point of view kind of horrible. I'm just having a terrible time getting this point across.

Ceo, I appreciate that you are trying to defuse the situation.

My only counter argument for you (and I'm doing this recognizing that we are on the "same side" of this argument) is that I've been "striving for equality in the next Bioware game" for 14 years, since the first out of ten games where I received the least amount of options.  Just "striving" isn't enough for me anymore.  I feel the need to be vocal about how much this bothers me.  One time, okay.  Two times, still okay, but a little side-eye.  Three times, now it's starting to get a bit unfair.  ELEVEN times, it's an issue.

It can't be equal at this point but it's apparently a sin to prioritize gay men getting the extra option over straight men.

Of course not, it's the shadenfreude that I and (I think) most of the others have taken issue with. Not the actual numbers.

It seems to be the general feeling and motivation behind certain posts though.

I personally couldn't care less if every LI was gay or bisexual, that's not why I spoke up, it's the reasoning behind it that I take issue with. People who claim to be fighting for equality that seemingly wouldn't give a damn if the shoe were on the other foot.

Another reason I disagree with this stance is I don't understand why straight players are the ones to be "punished," surely the developers of the game/s are to blame for the past inequality?

Yes the developers are to blame for the past and present inequality. We can't do anything about that now. Now that we know there's inequality, we might as well shift it towards the group that's always had less so they can feel good too. How is this so hard to understand?

If you know Mary always had that 7th and last slice of pie instead of John, surely it's okay for John to take that last slice now? It doesn't make us stop asking that the pie needs to be cut into 8 pieces but it's too late for that now.

That's a fair criticism, but I still thing the community needs to actually play DAI before we can judge just how equitable it is.

Poor Aimo. I'm getting the feeling that Vivienne will be the last romance, and likely for balance she will be straight and ungated, while Cassandra will be gated for humans. If this happens I don't even want to see what will be her reaction. For her sake I hope that doesn't happen.

If someone shows actually enjoyment in the fact that straight men might get less options this time around, then that person is not a very good person.  I certainly wouldn't be happy at their expense.

There's a difference between being happy that you aren't the one to get less options and being happy that a specific group is getting less options.

Firstly, I apologize if I seem heated and berating, because that isn't my intention at all.

Anyway, onwards. Straight men have ALWAYS had more options in EVERY Bioware game (there may be the odd one or two where straight females have won on that, but I can't remember at the moment).

If an inequality must exist in DA:I, which it does at this point because of this crazy Solus stuff, it would be nice if gay players could be the ones that don't finish last in terms of options. We don't want inequality (at least most of us, or at least I don't), but if there has to be some in terms of the number of LIs maybe we could have more for once?

It's not about reparations or punishing straight people. That you believe having less options as a straight male is punishment is telling, honestly. That's how gays have felt throughout all the Bioware games. Don't you see that?

I completely disagree with the approach that because a minority group had less in the past that they therefore should have the majority now.

Ideally pure numerical equality would be ideal imo but there's going to be additional options for groups i'd prefer any other reasoning.

Oh definitely. Would make me sad if all those cute comics had to stop because Blackwall isn't romanceable. Personally, I doubt Cassandra is gated but that's just me.

Which is why Bioware shouldn't have ANY waifus in DA4.

Everyone will get the exact same number of options, we will have reached equality at last!

I agree with you 100% that we need to play the game to really understand the whole scope of the romance features.  I look at it this way:

There is quality and there is quantity and both are important.

If I have more "worse" options, that's not a comfort.  If I have less "better" options, that might be a comfort depending on how many less.  If I have less "worse" options, then it's really an issue.

I think that right now, we can only discuss the quantity aspect.  But lace up your boots because once the game comes out, I expect the second half of this discussion to commence:  the "My options are worse than yours" argument.

The other options are to give the group that's always had more in the past more options or the group that already has more. That seems even less ideal.

There's no pleasant way to go about this. Bioware made it this way. I would've liked to see it completely different myself but I highly doubt that how much we complain, they'll change Solas or anyone else for us.
