Yeah, it's almost as bad as Sarcastic!Hawke's inappropriate joke to the Viscount after Saemus died. Only not funny at all.

Yeah, but I would say that says more about the Hawke you're playing than anything else.  You don't have to start flirting with Anders right then, just like you don't have to troll a grieving father holding his dead son.

Exactly. If it wasn't for these one or two changed lines of dialogue I doubt the whole "playersexuality" thing would have ever come up.

Anders feels like he had been retconned, so that Bioware could go with the "everyone is bi" approach, but they weren't expecting the playersexuality backlash, and backtracked by saying "Anders was always bisexual" and "Anders and Karl were a thing regardless of whether you played a male or female Hawke.

Now, i'm not saying that this is the case, but that's certainly how it looks from the outside.

I firmly stand in the "there's never been a playersexual character in a Bioware game" camp.  But I do agree that if Anders were some new character named "Lars", then no one would have questioned that "Lars", Merrill, and Fenris were bisexual and not "playersexual".

Hawke can be one of the least socially aware characters I've ever had to play.  S/he is cringeworthy at times.

Now that I'm discussing it, I'm kind of starting to rethink my stance on Anders Bisexuality. David made some solid points. I think a little bit of poor writing may have skewed people into believe he was just playersexual rather then always having been Bi. The evidence is there in DA:A if you look closely enough.

They don't need a reason to make someone gay. They can just be gay.

Or straight or bi or pan or ace or what-have-you.

You literally asked me why Dorian and Sera were gay and why Cass was straight, so I gave my answer :)

the same can be said for the rest of the cast then and Solas the first heterosexual Elev

Yes, that's exactly what I said...

Now I remember why I stopped posting in other threads  No one really reads what you post!

I don't think there was any real evidence as to his sexual preferences other than the "pretty girls" line. Granted, he doesn't need evidence to be bisexual, but I didn't get any vibes from him in DAA that he was also into men.

Honestly, since it's an RPG game, and it's not explicitly stated what their sexuality is within the game, I play the game as half-writer/half-player (since I get to write my own story, so to speak, as I play), and I do like headcanoning that Fenris is gay. (He is the only character who doesn't comment on anyone, male or female, other than Hawke).

Granted I played DAA after DA2 but I did think he flirted with Nate a bit lol

Right... Aside from his banter with Nathaniel. Which was just wtf sometimes.

You are both correct; FENRIS X ISABELA DOES NOT EXIST IN MY UNIVERSE.

I avoid flirting with Anders during that conversation, but I can't help myself from picking the sarcastic option with the viscount. I find it too funny to resist. It's such a bad joke, the timing is all wrong and for some reason I laugh my ass of at it. And I love Aveline for calling Hawke out on it. Snarky Hawke is so awkward and crazy, I love it.

But then again, my avatar should give some clue to my sense of humor. I understand why people don't find it funny.

Neither did I. I'm also struggling to think what constitutes as evidence for one's sexuality.

I like how they didn't pull any punches with snarky hawke. If you pick Snarky hawke all the time you're not a lovable rouge. You're a cruel bastard with a quick wit.

I wouldn't really call S!Hawke cruel so much as hardened by life. He isn't as affected emotionally by things and isn't afraid to joke about things others take seriously, which is why he seems cruel sometimes.

Not that any of this has to do with DA:I romance. Hahahaha

True. As for evidence, I honestly don't think there really is any true evidence, at least within the context of these games, other than outright admission of liking guys, girls, etc or referencing a past lover (like Karl).
