You know.. the funny thing about romance in video games is that if I have at least one option that is interesting to me - I'm happy. I don't care too much about "all the things!"
I'm like this right now with DAI... still waiting for that one option ![]()

Vivienne and Josephine would be a pair that could be the most powerful couple ever.
That thought actually frightens me ![]()

I think what I dislike is having a bunch of options but they all suck. The best example of this is Fable. Well, let's not kid ourselves, the romance in Fable is goofy anyway. (E.g. Farting gets you places.) But regardless, there's no one worth romancing in any of those games. All of the options are ridiculous whether you're male or female. So I did what any hero of Albion would do: I romanced the male prostitutes. It was too hilarious.
Forever disappointed that DA love interests aren't wooable via rapidly alternating between the Fart gesture and the Cossack dance. It worked just fine for my Bloodstone tattoo artist hubby!
You know what I would like to see? Same Sex people getting together in games. Imagine Donna and Aveline's awkward coupling. Or Cortez and Vega kissing in corridors. Or even 2 companions that are not romanceable getting together because they click. So if no one romanced iron Bull him and Blackwall would get together.
I liked when this happened in ME3((garrus and tali)) and DA2(fenris and isabela), and it was nice to hear cortez and thane had a love life outside of the player imo. I'd get behind something like that in future installments.
Ooooo, Bull and Josephine?
Dorian and Blackwall?
Cullen and Josie?
We've gone full shipping now.

Agree 100%. I dislike it that characters only get to fall in love if it's with my character. It makes me feel like a Mary Sue.

But Sue Cousland, Sue Hawke, and Sue Trevelyan are perfect, so why shouldn't everyone fall in love with her?
Sorry guys, I often like to ask fun questions just to kinda think about other things beside "who will it be" feel free to ignore me.
There are 8 possible Inquisitors when counting just gender and race. For fun, which Inquisitor would you pair with what what LI. You have to use all 8 and Viv/Blackwall are "freebies" and you can use one or the other with whatever sexuality you want as long as it has all 8 inquisitors.

You must have made much better decisions than me! My characters were all a bit asshatty, and not in the "lol so quirky" way. ![]()
Whatever else you want to say about ME3 and DA2, the followers interacting with each other without you (visiting each other's bases, calling each other up, moving around) really added some depth to the team.
For all the debate about choices, I'd like to check if anyone else experienced this:
In DAO in mostly romanced Leliana.
I did romance Alistair once but it just felt like I was cheating on Leliana.
In DA2 I only romanced Merrill.
I couldn't bear seeing those elf eyes when I was chasing someone else... so I didn't.
(But in DAI I plan to grab the bull by the horns (so to speak) and be promiscuous !)

But it's kinda bugged me that they almost never did it with Hawke (except for MotA, maybe). I mean, come on, why don't you guys talk to him? It reminds me of Saint row 3-4, where the protagonist actually reacted to his companions conversations. Why couldn't Hawke. >_>
Well, maybe he's just a jerk.

Ooo... Okay...
Male Dalish x Blackwall (b/c it's what I'm hoping for xD)
Male Human x Dorian
Male Qunari x Josie
Male Dwarf x Cass
Female Dalish x Solas (no choice)
Female Human x Sera
Female Qunari x Iron Bull
Female Dwarf x Cullen
By the by, every time I read Dorian's name I can't help but think of
Solas- Elf Female
Cullen- Human female
Sera- Qunari female
Vivienne- Dwarf female (I know I am insane but it is nice to dream)
Cassandra- Dwarf male
Dorian- Elven Male
Josie- Human Male
IronBull- Qunari Male

By act 3, they were probably afraid if they spoke too loudly by my protagonist, she'd start crying.
I started the game with a cute ikle bright-eyed idealistic Hawke for my first playthrough (which I went into largely unspoilered).
By the end, I could only laugh. Poor, poor Hawke.

Here are my picks:
Male Human and Vivienne
Male Qunari and Dorian
Male Dwarf and Josephine
Male Dalish and Cassandra
Female Human and Iron Bull
Female Qunari and Cullen
Female Dwarf and Sera
Female Dalish and Solas
Blackwall : Male Human
Cass : Male Elf
Iron Bull : Male Dwarf
Dorian : Male Qunari
Cullen : Female Human
Solas : Female Elf
Sera : Female Dwarf
Josephine : Female Qunari
Stupid Solas ruins this for me. I'd rather see Cullen with a female elf, but I have to put her with Solas, which then moves my human female to Cullen. Oh well. It's just a silly little thing to pass the time, right?
This is helpful to me. Thanks for the responses. So then wouldn't a demi-heterosexual still see representation in some capacity with the straight romances? I'm not saying this to dismiss the idea of including demisexuality. I'm just trying to understand why some have claimed that they have had NO representation. Do they just mean no specific demisexual representation? The same with asexuality? I'm just curious.
They have options, like for example asexuals can skip the sex scenes in Inquisition without canceling the romance entirely, but that is different from representation. It is kind of similar to how homosexual men could have options if they played as a female character in that both instances rely on the player headcanoning certain things. Neither is done by the game developers themselves and thus is not representation.
For example:
I can headcanon that Merrill is the same sexuality as me, but with Gaider's clarification that she is bisexual that is all it will be: headcanon.
I usually try to go for most of the romances on different characters. Sad puppy Hawke went for Fenris, which was part of the break-the-cutey round, in retrospect. S'part of why Hawke's one of my favorite Bioware protagonists. That first playthrough was just such a trainwreck of shattered dreams and hopes, and it made me feel for the poor gal in a way I never really did for Shepard or Revan or Warden or any of the TOR gang...
Still, around half of my playthroughs tend to just blithely skip around romances, ignoring the roses strewn in the path.
Let's see.
In a perfect world, my first playthrough will be a romanceless Cadash. I'm not sure, though. Having not 'met' any of the characters, I could be surprised, and one of them could be set up to turn the head of my female-dwarf-Rooster-Cogburn.

I'm gonna bend the rules here. I have never been able to finish a playthrough as an elf. I just genuinely can't feel connected to my character when he's skinny and wiry like that, personally.
So:
Male Human: Iron Bull
Male Dwarf: Blackwall (or Cassandra)
Male Qunari: Dorian
Female Human: Sera
Female Dwarf: Josephine
Female Qunari: Cullen
Human Male - Dorian
Human Female - Josie
Elf Male - Blackwall
Elf Female - Solas
Qunari Male - Bull
Qunari Female - Viv
Male Dwarf - Cass
Female Dwarf - Sera
Aww Cullen is forever alone ![]()
I am lucky. Me and my fiance play side by side and watch each other's playthroughs. I don't plan to romance the guys but she certainly does so it will be fun to see how it will work out and who will end up with who.
Aww Cullen is forever alone
He scorned my male Inquisitor's advances...he deserves to suffer!!!!
