I'm gonna bend the rules here. I have never been able to finish a playthrough as an elf. I just genuinely can't feel connected to my character when he's skinny and wiry like that, personally.

Dorian: Male dwarf (A stodgy practical dwarf, too.)
Iron Bull: Male human! (With melodramatic hand gestures.)
Cullen: Female human (They will fight over who gets to tank)
Solas: Female elf (lol)
Josi: Male elf (Much wisecracking will be had.)
Sera: Female qunari (90% so they can quarrel about who's best at ranged)
Cassandra: Male qunari (Because Cas tanking for a huge qunari rogue will please me.)

The bolded ones are runs I actually plan on doing. ...You know, barring any race-gating and such. The others could work, though. This question certainly jogged my creativity.
I am lucky. Me and my fiance play side by side and watch each other's playthroughs. I don't plan to romance the guys but she certainly does so it will be fun to see how it will work out and who will end up with who.
My husbot is just getting into Dragon Age.
The funniest bit so far in Dragon Age 2 (he went femHawke after a mae warden) is that he was going to jump on the Anders romance grenade, but then Anders went on his "I will only hurt you!" spiel, and he blinked a few times, went "Okay! Seems fair!" and walked away to hit on Seb.

The only time I've ever romanced an elf was when I modded the **** out of my DAII. In all runs after that, Fenris had a buzz cut and a beard. I DON'T CARE. Screw the lore, Fenris was hot with that mod.

I actually have better luck with female dwarves and orcs in video games because at least they are stocky lasses. I'm coming to realize that "stockiness" is a vital part of my self-identity.......

My playthroughs as an elf are limited to one warden, and I might retcon my favorite Orlesian Warden into an elf in the Keep if that's a thing.

Plus they seem to be safe from creepy noodle-arm syndrome. Which is a real problem.

And, I totally sympathize with your statement. Dwarves aren't in all of the fantasy games (elves are pretty much in all of them). It feels wrong to not pick them when given a chance!

Oddly enough, the Dalish storyteller Sarel actually had a five o'clock shadow. Depending on how they handle the reimagining of the elves in Inquisition, it wouldn't be that far out there for the elves to grow beards.

I think it's just for fun. I know that I don't plan to play as about 80% of the characters I jotted down.
I know I'm not going to do all those playthroughs. At least not right away. The game's going to be comically huge already, and I need some time to excercise and eat and... you know. Work. Talk to people. Silly stuff like that.

That was one of the reasons that I was disappointed that Solaas was available only to female elves. If Blackwell is a LI, I'll romance him first as a female dwarf, but apart from that, the only female inquisitor I plan to run will romance Cullen. I tend to lose interest in playing female elves, so I fear Solaas will be forever alone on my computer. All of my other inquisitors will probably be male, and I'll divide them evenly between Blackwell, Iron Bull, and Dorian... and a straight one for Cassandra, because she's just that hot.
