The amount of people in the forums that seem to think DA is a dating simulator is surprisingly high.

Romance is a big part of the game to some, but it's not all the game has to offer guys..

Why do some people like combat? Why do others like the story? Some people enjoy the romance, particularly the LGBT portions. So don't begrudge them for caring so much about the romances.

Still very excited about the game and some of the characters and will get it no matter what but I'm pretty disappointed with how uneven the LI distribution is.

I have to admit, I get a bad feeling about both the race-gated options being straight.

Eh, I remember David Gaider talking about "benefit of doubt" in response to my concerns about probability of lesbians getting the short end of the stick.

Turns out I was completely right.

It's just something about bisexual elves, isn't it? No-one can resist them  :P

They definitely won the LI lottery. Particularly the females.

Are you serious? People like combat and story because those are the main parts of the game. The pillars, so to speak. I'd argue that romance actually falls under story.

Seriously, i love the romances, but when someone says they're not gonna play it because they're not happy with the romances, that really makes all the effort put into the game seem pointless.

Why? If the bisexual or gay love interests were race gated, then a gay PC might only have one option. This way, no matter your race, gender, or orientation, you have two options.

Straight males have the same as lesbians and gay guys. You didn't get the short end of the stick.

Hell, gay men almost didn't even have two full romances were it not for John Epler.

Well, if you wanted to bone Duncan, here is you're chance.

Since he is like the Gandalf of DA while Duncan was the Dumbledore.

Or something.

I'm not pissed.  I'm a little disappointed that a group gets more options than others and it's another straight group.  But, in general, this just feels like DA 2 to me, which isn't that bad because it's only 1 group that gets more options.  It's weird that they get twice as many options as everyone else, but at least the rest of us are all in the same boat.

I'm not angry myself. I was rather disappointed since the start because the options that match my interest are characters that I don't really feel interested about. I wasn't crazy about Vivienne neither so it doesn't bother me. This feels like DA2 all over again for me. I just sad about all the people that got fewer options.

Who cares? People like different things for different reasons. Let them care about what they would like to care about and don't criticize them for it.

It is, however, hilariously easy to chitchat about with almost no information.

Unlike talking about classes (that we don't know how they'll 'feel' when played yet), arguing about mages and templars and dalish (there will be new information soon, and in the meantime, we're chasing our tails), or talking about quests we haven't played yet.

What I'm saying is that there's kind of a limit to what you can talk about with Dragon Age: Inquisition. Since we haven't actually played the game.

But now we can sure say "Hey, Blackwall, he's in. And they sure added 2 love interests for the elf gals at the last moment. Sup with that?"

Heck the two race gated romances are simply that, a bonus. If it was not for the extra dev time we would have 2/2/2.

We simply have 2/2/2 and 2 bonus race gated romances for straight females.

Yeah, but there are some who were drawn to the series in the first place because of the romances... and you can't take everything that people say at a time like this seriously.  People tend to talk in extremes when they're upset.  I'm sure that once things calm down, you'll see that most of those people are still interested in the game...  I don't see the harm in voicing disappointment, however... this is over 100 pages into the 4th Romance Thread after all.  It matters a lot  to some folks.

And the last two to be revealed were NOT the race-gated options, despite everyone insisting that they must be.

Straight women - doesn't need commentary.

Gay men - both COMPANION romances.

Straigth men - advisor and Cassandra, who's very important character, like Morrigan and Alistar in DAO.

Lesbians - advisor and Sera, who seems to be more of a sidekick who probably doesn't even need to be recruited.

By having both of the characters who are race-gated(and thus will have "They are racist" threads and comments) being straight, I can just see some people making a false connection and causing problems.

What a terrible arguement, but i'll let it slide.

Terrible argument? I'm not the one coming in and criticizing people for caring about an aspect of the game.

Josephine - obviously an advisor we have from the beginning. seems to be plot important. I know, you're screwed, but you're not more screwed than gay people...we're all equally screwed.
