what the ****..I'm really angry, 4 LI's to straight women... I won't buy this game anymore.

To be honest good, you can save your money and buy a romance simulator. That way you don't have to pay 60 or more bucks for a bunch of content you didn't want, just to experience what this same other genre of game offers in much higher quantity.

And the last two to be revealed were NOT the race-gated options, despite everyone insisting that they must be.

Yeah, looks like we weren't misinterpreting David's post at all.

Cullen comes as no surprise, really. When it comes to all matters Cullen I look to the Cullen fans for guidance, and a lot of them were saying that Cullen was likely to be gated due to racist remarks in the previous games.

These race-gates really hit me hard. I have no LI for my qunari ladys then. I think I will have to abandon them and play just guys, luckily I can do that. That side at least has Dorian and Cassandra.

I wanted to stab Duncan.

Multiple times.

With a rusty knife.

:(

*feels so much worse*

You wanted to kill Dumbledore?

I have no words.

Terrible argument? I'm not the one coming in and criticizing people for caring about an aspect of the game.

Dude, don't. It's not worth it. He's trying to get a rise out of people because he knows tensions are high. Then he'll use that as evidence that the people who like romances are wrong. Just ignore him and he'll slink away.

Kinda like another Mass Effect situation for me. Had Thane been bi, I would have never rolled a female Shepard. And I would have lost out.

I tend to roll gay male pcs whenever possible because hey, that's what I am and we rarely get the option. But in doing that, I restricted myself in DA2 because that's all I did since both options were available to a gay Hawke. What I'm getting at, basically, is that this will make me want to play as an f!inquisitor. In a way, I appreciate the limitations because it's encouraging me to try avenues I never would have.

Totally understand being disappointed though. Especially since now that those planning to play exclusively a gay or lesbian quizzy got the short end of the stick yet again.

Heck the two race gated romances are simply that, a bonus. If it was not for the extra dev time we would have 2/2/2.

We simply have 2/2/2 and 2 bonus race gated romances for straight females.

And I've heard that every romance has the same budget. So it's no "bonus" but twice as much content in that department for half of the straight population.

They're full fledged romances according to the devs.

Evidently too much, for a game where romances would make up less then 5% of the games content, for that 5% to be the only reason you buy it. That'd be like buying a copy of Madden, every time a new one came out, just because you liked 1 team, and otherwise did not care at all about anything football related.

Hi, I'm here to play gatekeeper on what you like and sign off on whether or not it is a valid concern.

To be fair, the straight guys are hanging out there with you. And those who don't want to play an elf lady or a human gal.

2/2/2 is the default, with a bonus series for femelves and an extra for the human gals.

Considering straight women could have ended up with zero options in Bioware's last game I think they deserve the extra options more than anyone.

off topic but Theo/Minato *squee*

<3

I have to say I like every romance option for Minako in P3P (well everyone except Shouta option obviously).

But I guess I'll have femQunari romance the bull and Blackwall and femHuman when I get around to her can romance Cullen.

The Cullen and Solas romances have as much content as the other ones.

Reverse Mass Effect 3.

Something like that.

Might be just 5% of the game but it enhances the other 95%. Unlike the vast majority of other video games.

Lesbians - advisor and Sera, who seems to be more of a sidekick who probably doesn't even need to be recruited.

None of the companions "need" to be recruited except one, and that's probably Cassandra. (Although it might be Solas? I guess?) Which makes Dorian and the Iron Bull just as "sidekicky" as Sera.

Advisors have just as much content as companions do. Their word budgets are the same, and the only real difference is that they don't always come out into the field with you. You can't avoid recruiting them, either, which arguably makes them more relevant and important than companions, going by the sorts of criteria I'm inferring from your post. I don't see how that makes them any worse as romances.

Besides, Josephine seems lovely, especially given how active her voice actress has been. (She's a longtime fan with a BSN account!) What little we've seen of Sera has been hilarious. I think they'll both be great.

Dave outright said these two racegated romances are only here because of the extra dev time. That is a fact. It's a bonus, simple as that.

Pfft he could've used a kick in the nads (but then that scene in HBP happened and yeah I just felt pity).

I can't have a romantic relationship in real life for reasons I don't want to mention. I've never had one and I'll never have it. Bioware games were the only games where I could get the feeling to have a romantic option, even if it's not real....

I feel guilty for not being more upset, but yeah after ME3 I'm surprised/pleased.
