So far every prediction I ever made romance wise except for Cullen's straightness was wrong. What's the unpopular opinion? If I advocate for that it'll probably end up being untrue for the better.

What were your original predictions?

I thought that the Bull would be bi, but gated. Varric gated and straight. And Solas or Vivienne bisexual ungated.

That's unfair to say, you know. Even, most romance simulators are hetero in nature, with f/f ones being near zero. Even though I'm happy to have so many romances for my female Bi inqusitors, I feel sorry for the rest who got shafted.

 

But they do make ones, specifically catering to gays and lesbians, and possibly even bisexuals though I can't confirm.

 

If you're already willing to pay 60 or more dollars for something that barely gives you what you want, why not just invest a bit of time finding that thing that gives you 100% what you want? Or 90%, possibly even 80%? Its gotta be a lot better then getting financially shafted just to get qualitatively shafted.

I can't find it in me to be mad mostly because f/m has gotten the short stick plenty of times (and no before any jumps down my throat yes they had it better than gay men and lesbian women.) So seeing f/m players having more substantial options is a bit of a wow moment for me.

I don't like romance simulations like the sims. In these games I don't feel like it's a virtual 'me' or something that represents me while romancing other characters. Plus those games are rather strategic. I don't like that. I like the mixture of romance, adventure and fighting against the evil.

I also cannot believe people are really using ME to justify twice as many options for straight women than gays and lesbians. One game were we got arguably equal options justifies getting half as many in the next game? Straight women have three returning companion romances in the game, Thane, Kaidan and Garrus. Gay men always had Cortez (we could lose Kaidan just as easily) and he was a poorly developed NPC with basically no relevance. It seems like any approaching equality is going to be seen as "more" from those who have already had over three times as many options across Bioware's games. But nobody is mentioning that, I guess. All that matters is not counting romances that clearly existed in ME3.

they aren't 'extra'. They are only extra added to the romance plot, but not to the story plot. And the devs said their romance plot has the same quality as the other romance options.

Well, to be fair, we don't know this yet.  I'm going to hold out on all qualitative analysis until we can actually play the game and meet the characters.

This is misleading.  It's been clarified by numerous devs in the other thread that they are not different than the other romances outside of being race-gated.
