I only wonder why "accidentally" it's always gay folks that are the ones that receive the short end of the stick. Since now, with Solas being 3rd straight female romance option, it can't be the other way that either gay men will have it the worst, or particularly gay women with only one companion romance - or maybe both if the remaining romance is straight too.

 

What are you talking about? Gay folks have 2 options now and it would not be removed: IB and Jos plus Dorian\Sara. Like "A" straight woman has 2 - Cullen and IB. PLUS some specific straight woman (elven one) can get a third option.

What are you talking about? Gay folks have 2 options now and it would not be removed: IB and Jos plus Dorian\Sara. Like "A" straight woman has 2 - Cullen and IB. PLUS some specific straight woman (elven one) can get a third option. 

Basically people are upset that the last LI revealed, Blackwall, is exclusively straight - leaving straight women with anywhere from two to four LI choices, depending on the race you select at the beginning of the game.  Which can be double any of the other race/gender/sexuality choices.

 

But we should probably try to avoid this line of topic, since it's nearly gotten the thread locked.

they aren't 'extra'. They are only extra added to the romance plot, but not to the story plot. And the devs said their romance plot has the same quality as the other romance options.

This is misleading.  It's been clarified by numerous devs in the other thread that they are not different than the other romances outside of being race-gated.

 

However they most likely aren't very important plot-wise since they are added, something that game would me okay without as well.

I don't understand how being an LI makes anyone more important to the plot.  Oghren was not an LI but he was so important to the franchise that they resurrected and brought him back for the Awakenings expansion.  I'm sure that LI status doesn't mean all that much in the end... all the party members and advisors will be equally important, or close to it.

I also cannot believe people are really using ME to justify twice as many options for straight women than gays and lesbians. One game were we got arguably equal options justifies getting half as many in the next game? Straight women have three returning companion romances in the game, Thane, Kaidan and Garrus. Gay men always had Cortez (we could lose Kaidan just as easily) and he was a poorly developed NPC with basically no relevance. It seems like any approaching equality is going to be seen as "more" from those who have already had over three times as many options across Bioware's games. But nobody is mentioning that, I guess. All that matters is not counting romances that clearly existed in ME3. 

 

Well thane dies, no matter what you do. Jacob cheats on you, no matter what you do. Kaiden could be killed in either ME1 or ME3 if you didn't do things right/not a high enough persuasion ability. So that leaves Garrus and...just garrus.

 

Also I think you need to learn the difference between justification, and logical deduction. Just because you can, say, understand how a thief would break into a building, or what valuables they might take, the logic behind their actions, doesn't mean you justify their thievery or are yourself a thief.

 

Nobody's been trying to justify the decision, and everyone seems to be just figuring out the logic used behind it.

The text that I originally quoted was about speculation of Dorian having lesser romance compared to Cullen and Solas plot-wise. My comment is that Cullen and Solas will probaply have less plot-driven romance than him. It doesn't matter me in the end, I was happy romancing Zevran in DAO although that didn't make me prince or got me god baby.

Garrus still had more content than Kaidan and Steve combined. Kaidan's romance is way better if you continue it from ME1 and you can only do that as femshep, and he could be dead for guys too.

 

And at least girls had any romance to import from the earlier games.
