Just pick yourself up and move on.

Of course we will. We've been doing it our whole lives now. Forgive us for thinking that this time might be different.

Now, if only they make Vivienne a bissexual romance for all races, she'll be the Ultimate LI!

Ultimate?  I thought that would put her in the same place in the romance chart as Iron Bull and Josephine.

Can't always get what we want. Assumption was made and the assumption was wrong. That's it.

I'm starting to think that Solas and whomever's yet to be revealed were added because Bioware could squeeze a few more LIs in than they originally thought. But only one race/gender combo each.

Oh please, so Straight Females are getting one more option. It's not the end of the world.

Maybe the final LI will be gay to round it all up again if it worries you so much.

Everyone's getting at least two choices.  Past that, I think Bioware can do whatever they want.

I don't understand the issue.  I will roll a male for Dorian. I will roll a female for Sera and one for Josephine.

Iron Bull will get his own Inquisitor. For $70 I plan to play this game for a long time.  I don't expect the game developers to cater to my demands.

It was obvious with the new game engine and such...the game was NOT going to be a carbon copy of DA2. People should have never assumed that.

Okay. Maybe Bioware creates such a companion one day. The chances aren't that low, because Bioare is really open minded. But I doubt they'll give us transsexual companions in in every game. I just wish that we'll have the option to make our own character transsexual. That's something they could really introduce so that people who identify as transsexual get the possibility to create a character that fits their personality.

Yeah, that would be great. You would think with the new gen, and frostbite 3 that making such a character creator would be a viable option. But my friend says after living through all console generation ,that he has resigned himself to his fate.

Considering how straight women have gotten the short end of the stick lately, I don't see the problem with them having Solas. To be frank, all I can say is too bad if you had plans otherwise. Just pick yourself up and move on.

Pretty much this. If anything, I'm glad female players have got a bit of a leg up, even if it's just for the elven female Inquisitor. I'm loathed to say "at least straight men aren't getting this special treatment" because I personally feel it's bad sportsmanship, but considering that theirs is a demographic that will never be forgotten, at least this LI reveal was for female players.

I just didn't think it was Solas.

On the other hand, I too did think it was going to be different. I mean, at least we have, for gay male Inquisitors, Dorian and Iron Bull, and for lesbian Inquisitors: Sera and Josephine, and for that, I'm grateful.

It's just the idea that that demographic need not be stuck with the "at least".

Women have gotten the short end compared to straight men, but they've gotten a lot better treatment overall than gay men or lesbians. So, it's not much of a score for equality. It's just taking more away from demographics that have always gotten less. It's not as if the only demographic that actually gets more on average than straight women, straight men, are losing anything for this.

I'm getting annoyed by the ME3 discussion about straight females getting the short end of the stick. They had two companions (Kaidan and Garrus). Both of them are very well developped. Gay people only got one companion whose romance scenes were shortened compared to the female shepard scenes, and one NPC. -.-

Solas being romance option for 25% of female characters.. or 12,5% if counting lesbian female characters I can't see Solas romance as something that's very catering to female players. At least I feel like playing male character is more rewarding this time, I think I will just romance Cullen with my female charater and make rest characters guys to romance Dorian and Cassandra. But that's just me when thinking who my options is going to be in regard who I like from LI's and how I like to play.

You could romance Garrus only if you romanced him in ME2
Kaidan could be dead
Thane dies
Jacob cheats on you
Yep, straight women were pretty much unlucky

At this point no matter who the last LI is and how gated they are there is no possibility of things being equal, my only wish is that Solas is some kind of special cupcake and the remaining LI won't be so insanely restricted.

you could create a new playthrough in ME3 with Kaidan if you wanted him to be alive, you had a very touching romance with Thane, even if it ends tragic. You can play Mass Effect 2 again and romance Garrus. The only shitty romance was Jacob.

Back then there was no Keep. Wanna new play through? Play it all from the very beginning. Plus Kaidan... Wasn't that popular. Many preferred Ashley
Thane's death was stupid, really. Not that he dies but how
Still fucked up regardless of what people say

Well this is one of the reason I'm unhappy things aren't equal.

It just breed resentment , there's just no way around it, IMHO.

It's always pretty disheartening to see straight people complaining about a distribution of options that I would absolutely love to have. ME3 was a better distribution for women than I've had in any game besides DA2 (where straight women had an extra option.. that many complain about), so it's kind of a kick in the gut. But, at the same time, I can relate to them wanting equal options to straight men. It's just really upsetting seeing it defended as a reason to take even more away from gay men, when we've gotten by far the least options in Bioware games to date.

I said in the Solas thread that I like this whole race/gender combo gating and find it interesting.

Yes I'm a straight female, but I'm not an elf.. So I don't see why other people can't roll the right character to romance someone they really wanted to.
I like Dorian's character so far, and I don't play as male PCs. But I might to try his romance and therefore I'll have to play as a male PC like I never have before.

It encourages you to try different race/gender combinations.

It's unfortunate it's unbalanced and a lot of people feel inequality but I do like this direction of each companion is individual.
BioWare games are great for gay/lesbian/straight romances.
I feel with each game they're taking a step in the right direction.

Personally I wasn't a fan of DA2's system but I do like DAI's so far.

In a perfect world Bioware would have made Solas and Vivienne being bisexual. : ( They had the chance to create the first game with equal choices....I was so close to believe that everyone would get three options (except race gating of course, but that's not something I care about when it comes to equality). And now, it's pretty obvious that at least one sexual orientation get the short end of the stick...I'm so sad. It's not that I have anything against heterosexual Solas, but they already have Cullen...why can't it be equal in one single game. Whhhyyyy  :(

For me it's just that Solas gating is very strict and female elf happens to be my least favourite gender/race combo but from the srcaps of the info we have for now I'm really intrigued by Solas' character so I'm sure that I'll roll a female elf some day(maybe sooner that I expect).

I'm fine with race or gender gating but both of them at the same time just crush my soul.

I'm just really hoping for the last LI to not be gated towards dwarfs.

you could create a new playthrough with Kaidan in ME3 without replaying the game series from the beginning. And if you wanted to romance Garrus you only had to replay ME2.

Honestly, I'm a little nervous for this last LI, no matter what someone will be disappointed with this one. I'm homosexual myself and this time I'll be representing that, in 'Origin's' my Warden was Heterosexual and my male Hawke was Bi-sexual but liked women more. I think Dorian is great, it's going to be hard not to romance him but I don't want to go with a mage, Iron-Bull is also very big and dominating which doesn't suit me personally, if Blackwall is interested in men (which is extremely unlikely indeed right now) then maybe things will get more interesting for me but right now looks like I may end up all alone. Whoever is the last LI though, I hope those who are pleased enjoy it .

It's really disappointing. It just stings more every time they say, "we just write the characters we want to write". I'd honestly rather hear that they're writing as many LGBT characters as they think a mainstream audience will carry than that they just consistently want to write less gay characters as a conscious action.
