Aye.

I am a fan of 2/2/2 and 4bi and hopefully that's what the devs will go with next time 2/2/2 I mean. Or maybe 2/2/2 with 2 extra and they go to m/m and f/f next time. I wouldn't mind that.

More extras is just more hurt feelings and arguing over whether or not it was justified. I really do wish they'd just make equal options for once. It's the best way for the most people to be happy and there's no question that it's fair.

next time...in four years :´-(

I've been saying "next time" for 11 games now.  It's getting harder and harder to do it every time......

I will be waiting to see if Solas's SUPER story reasons-  their words - were worth making him female only.

Yeah, but... Vivienne *cries*

Can someone tell me inspirational things about Josephine and Cassandra?

Please, this day keeps getting worse, I need a pick-me-up

They aren't race gated.

I don't think the resources work like that either, could be wrong though

Well, there's no reason they couldn't. Romance content is just writing, voice recording time and cinematics time. Allan said in the old thread that, if they didn't have as many romances, it would go somewhere else, like friendship content.

I know, but I'm talking more about the characters themselves, not really their criteria.

I'm pretty sure they only meant that for why he's gated to elves. In the post, he said Solas was gated towards elves and that it was for SUPER story reasons. He said in a post down the chain that it was only females. I'm pretty sure there's no "reason" he's straight, like Cullen. He just is.

*comforts* Look at it this way. It'll be worth it for that time ontop of the pyramid.

Thank you...but only if straight females won't get 2 additional options again, otherwise I'll always feel like I'm not worth to get as many options as them. I mean...first it was only one additional option (Sebastian), now there are two bonus romances...maybe three of them in the next game? Better I don't think about it too much....

Eh... Cassandra is a warrior?  Her family is rich?  I don't know what you like or dislike, so I can't really help... :P

Wait, didn't Cassandra kill a high dragon solo?  She's a hero in Nevarra... you inspired yet?

I highly doubt we'll get 2 additional romances next game. Also Seb...Seb was a badly implemented half assed romance who didn't even come to the manor after your mom was zombiefied and you couldn't recruit til act 2 didn't interact with any of the other romances (as in relationships wise not the friendship dialogues. One flirt and his ended maker only knows how he even knew) had no love scene (it didn't even have to be sex. Just a conversation and some cuddling or something would've been fine) and he was DLC.

I mean straight female players do not historically get the most options. Not in the least. A lot of the time we're lucky if we get the same amount as straight males.

I just don't see the reason for concern.

And there have been people saying "next time" about having representation at all.

Doesn't mean that it's any less tough for the other people.  I don't know why you feel the need to turn it into the "who's had it worse" olympics all the time.

It's because we always get the fewest options (except ME3 where all groups had been screwed but straight males)...if not female gamer will get most options next time, I bet it will be straight male gamers. It's just a very bad feeling I have....well, but doesn't matter.

This is true.  Straight females have only ever gotten the most in the last two DA games (yes, I count Seb because we're talking quantity not quality).

Counting Seb is sort of like counting Allers tho. I mean :P

That I can understand.

But really if anyone gets the most options next game I have doubts it'll be female gamers.

I dunno about the rest, but the reason I'm concerned has nothing to do with the amount, it has to do with the type. One "will sleep with anything" pansexual and a homosexual that people are already calling their gay best friend and "all the sass". That is why I think gay males always get the short end of the stick. You get a fascinating intellectual, a knight in shining armour, a tainted knight and that same promiscuous pansexual. Realize that, to all the people who think four options, no matter how restricted, is 'not a big deal'. And just be happy. I'm glad for you. I'm just crying, and angry, and passive aggressive for me.

What's especially disheartening is that we can pretty much expect ME to favor straight males, then straight females, then LGB players. Dragon Age favors straight females and then everyone else, we're seeing now. Equality is the goal, but it's hard to expect it when you keep seeing them favor the same groups over and over. Next time seems like a hollow promise. What hope do we really have of that happening? DA2 was the closest we got and now DA:I is stepping back from it. Equality is getting farther away, not closer.

No, you are trying to undermine the point that gay men and lesbians have been traditionally underepresented.  If I consistently responded to a straight female player complaining about her options in past games by saying "Well, you always get more options than me.....", she would have every right to find that to be a dismissive act.

Ah I can understand that.

:(

Hopefully next game we can get a bi intellectual and knight in shining armor, ice queen, non nonsense lady and a straight sassy male. BW could use some mixing of their romance types.

I don't think it's really fair to say about Dorian. We heard him speak and he's not any sort of gay stereotype. I think what people have said about him has more to do with their outlook on gay people than Dorian's actual characterization.

Iron Bull is a let down, though. Another promiscuous bisexual and straight people get all the knightly do-gooder types? They made a good three and couldn't throw us one of them? Really unfortunate context.

Yeah, I think that this is the point that's making me a little less happy right now.

I tell myself, "Well maybe in the next game....." and then I remember that the next game is an ME game.  I heard it's a different team, though, so maybe it won't be as ridiculously lopsided as the first trilogy.

We don't necessarily know that about Blackwall yet, do we? Cullen, sure. But Blackwall is still mostly unknown.

Edit: I get the point you're making, just thought I'd throw that out there.

And put me in the group that desperately wants the Knight-in-Shining-Armor to be open to m/m romances in the next DA game.  This has been my childhood fantasy (damn that prince in Sleeping Beauty......!) and I've never once seen a single fantasy game where this trope plays in my favor.
