Maybe you should wait till we see the romances first lol

There's always something that can be improved. Always. Something always gets cut. The poster you quoted isn't saying that they think the other romances will be worse, just that they think Bioware could have used resources better.

If you took 10 people who aren't following DA:I, showed them a picture of Blackwall and a picture of Dorian, told them that one of them was straight and the other was gay, and asked them to pick which one was which..... I personally think most would pick Dorian as gay and Blackwall as straight.  This is coming from a gay guy.

I also wish that the big, hairy, strong, macho knight in shining armor type could be bisexual or gay for once.

Here's hoping for the next game.

I agree about Iron Bull AGAIN we have this will sleep with everyone/happy to go mentality type of gay character its frustrating

I was hoping for Blackwall as a bi option so that we have something new

but nope.. and I just can't get into Dorian no idea why

Well good thing that I still have Josephine and Cassandra (since I'm bi) but Solas and Blackwall were definitely on top of my list

(and now both are straight what a let down)

I'm happy about Dorian, but it's Solas and Cullen that I would have loved to have a chance with. I was really sure at least one would be bi. I would have never guessed they'd both be straight and still Blackwall, to boot. This whole thing is such a shock.

I don't think either that he's stereotypically gay. I actually like his soft features. But if he turns out to be a sidekick character I guess I'm even more disapointed. It just seems like a big step backwards for now.

Dorian has a connection to the Venetori (sp) which seems to be a major faction... based on the Redcliffe demo, he seems to be important to at least that plotline... and since they are mages who have an interest in the Fade, he seems like he's going to be highly relevant to the overall plot.  I wouldn't worry too much.  Even had Blackwall been gay or bi, he's a Grey Warden... since the story isn't about darkspawn, I don't see how he'll be all that integral to the main plot.  No more than any other character, at least.

We should give Vivienne a break. She just got off a long standing relationship, her boyfriend had his head cracked open like an overripen melon. She needs a grieving period.

I think of the mages, Solas is the one who's more plot important though because of his connection to the fade. And maybe Vivienne, because she has some hidden agenda. I don't think the Venetori are very plot relevant. Maybe at the beginning, but that was it. The real enemy is the elder one. And as everyone else Dorian doesn't know who he is.

To be fair, if you asked them between a photo of Blackwall and Cullen which was gay, they'd probably say Cullen. If you asked them between Dorian and Solas, it would probably be a toss up. It doesn't exactly mean Dorian "looks gay" on an average scale. We did get Iron Bull, who is the most macho of all. I imagine if you told someone to pick the straight guy out of Iron Bull, Solas and Cullen, they'd mostly pick Iron Bull.

Honestly, I'd rather have someone like Cullen or Alistair that's more "middle ground" shining knight, but that's just my preference.

Considering the trailer, I can't argue about Solas's potential importance...

This will probably happen, eventually.

What I don't understand is why people seem so intent on placing Dorian in a stereotypical box. He's handsome, impassioned, confident, and clever. How does one come to the conclusion that those traits are stereotypical? Any person can have them, not just gay men.

Honestly I really was rooting for BW being bi. Him being straight was a bit of a wat moment.

And yeah everyone should get the shining knight types <3 It's a fantasy game.  (Both sides should also get the ice queen too.)

While this whole thing is going down, I'm just gonna put this here. If you're acting like an imbecile and insulting the devs, stop it. Stop it right now.

I can see your point when it comes to characters like Cassandra and even the advisors, but I tend to look at party members differently in DA.  The ones that mean something to the plot sometimes never see combat for one reason or another, so I am hesitant to label Dorian as a "sidekick" just yet... I mean, I plan to take him on several missions, and based on what little I know about him he seems like one of the companions whose opinion I'd be more inclined to listen to when making decisions.  My overall point is that these companions are all considered heroes in one way or another, and were important long before the Inquisition forms.  I wouldn't sell any of them short just yet.

As for insulting the devs, I wouldn't do it and insulting them isn't going to change anything or get any marginally decent point across. But it was their choice to continue making unbalanced options. Unless they're saying they had no say in what happened, yeah, it is on them that it happened. They could have chose equal options for everyone and they didn't think it was important. So, what is everyone supposed to think about that?

Attacking the devs is not justified because you decided they were being unfair. You control yourself, the devs have no impact on your actions. So when you decide to attack them for any reason, that is on you.

I just came home and saw the romance info. This is my reaction:

Sure, I get my preferred option. But it feels all kinds of wrong. I'm so sorry for Vivienne's fans and I'm so sorry for Blackwall's male fans.

In all honesty, this^. I got lucky with Dorian and Bull. I feel really bad for the Viv fans and male Blackwall fans. It's a drinking kind of night lol.

I admit that I have no other social media sites active, so I don't know what's going on over there. I don't advocate flinging irrational hatred at anyone. I'm just saying, it's not like they were bystanders in the situation. (Well, yes to devs like Epler and Allan, obviously not everyone at Bioware in any capacity has a choice in this.) I think the issue should be handled with some measure of maturity, but the fact is, they made a choice to write the game the way they did. It isn't like it was out of their hands as to whether things would be equal. Criticism of the distribution is, ultimately, criticism of the choices made by select Bioware employees. That's not to say "YOU'RE A HOMOPHOBIC RACIST KILL YOURSELF" is acceptable criticism, don't get me wrong.
