Go with Cassandra... Josephine would get owned by a high dragon.

You say this and then you play the game and Cass is one shotted by a high dragon.

And don't decide ask them to duel for your affection, Cass would straight up murder poor Josie.

Dangit I still dk. I'll do both but WHICH FIRST

Maybe Josephine would write the dragon a strongly worded note? :P

Wait, what's being taken out of the game?

Everyone has a minimum of two options.   Everyone.  I can see being disappointed by specific choices given, but that goes with every game.

A lot of people are not getting the romances they wanted. Now imagine if you weren't getting the RPG system you wanted. You'd be upset, possibly angry over Biowares decision to go in another direction and you would express that anger in the forums. Am I incorrect?

ETA:  Deviija  .  Also, great minds think alike, huh?

Snipping to respond to both of you.

It's nice to see you guys both still have an optimistic outlook after all this time. I appreciate hearing your outlook.

Listen, that fight was like 20 years ago.... people slow down a bit when they get old, even heroes.  Cut her some slack.

I bet she could still take Josephine in a wrestling match.... and no, I'm not suggesting that because I want to see them wrestle.  It's for science.

Oh, Blackwall is a romance. PHEW, I'm happy there's a manly, gruff option for my female dwarf now. I was afraid she was gonna have to settle for the stuttering templar guy after Varric was announced as unavailable. The bad news is that I get the feeling the Blackwall romance is going to be very...Thane-y...

No, if the game's RPG system wasn't something I liked, I simply wouldn't get the game.

The game has romances.  Bioware has done romances for a long time, so that's nothing new.  In fact the only think really new is the sheer number and variety of romances available.  So the question then becomes "What options look appealing to me?" not "What options don't look appealing to me?"

It's extra good since Cullen wont romance a Dwarf or Qunari

And as I've mentioned elsewhere, extra options mean little if you don't even like them. I actually made out better as a FShep in 3 because I liked more of my options.

Eh, I for one am not thrilled about my options, Cassandra to me is like an female version of Cullen, and I totally despise him. So you can get the idea of how I feel about her. While Josephine.... I don't know, I just don't find nothing particularly interesting or remarkable about her. She just feels too average to me. Who dates an person they find dull anyway?

I'm sure I will love the gameplay, the story and everything else, but the romances in particular? I rather doubt it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but were you not recently upset about the amount of abilities useable in game? To some people, the romances are just as important an element to them, and to see that they are not getting what they want is likely as distressing to them, as that revelation was for you.

I'm really hoping Josephine turns out to be a real surprise.  Her opponents are lulled into a sense of complacency by her soft words and charm, only to find out they've signed the ground out from under them.  Diplomacy doesn't mean capitulation....

That isn't the same thing at all.  You can't compare a change in game mechanics that effects all players to this ongoing argument about what's fair in terms of representation for sexual orientations... I mean, the whole argument amounts to people wanting more options than some other group.  There are two viewpoints in the ability debate: accept or refuse.  I don't think anyone has ever used an argument about "fairness" in regard to that topic...

(edit: well, the third view is "wait and see" on the abilities... but you get my point, I'm sure)

Yeah, who needs him. I might romance him on one playthrough, but most of my Inquisitors will probably be climbing the wall and riding the bull :D

I also wonder what that implies about Cullen and Solas as characters, them not being available to every race. Should be interesting to see their explanations/reasons for their preferences

It's comparable because of it's importance to the people who are upset. Neither the romances or the current gameplay revelations bother me in the slightest, but they bother others because of those elements importance to them. That is why I make the comparison.

A lot of things are important to different people for different reasons, but the ability debate doesn't involve an ongoing social issue with real world implications.  I'm sorry but these two arguments are unrelated.  The only real comparison is that the fanbase is divided over both issues, but that's where it ends.

Eh, sexuality is only a part of a person, not their whole, so it's no biggie.  Kudos to you for not being a stereotypical straight male!

I should try it someday!

Twice as many options means you're twice as likely to have at least one that you like, though.

Iakus was expressing confusion over why this bothered people. Iakus cares deeply about how the RPG elements are realized in the game. Other people care about how the romances are handled. Both, for their own reasons, have a lot of investments in these issues. I pointed this out so he'd understand why some people reacted as they have.
