Iakus was expressing confusion over why this bothered people. Iakus cares deeply about how the RPG elements are realized in the game. Other people care about how the romances are handled. Both, for their own reasons, have a lot of investments in these issues. I pointed this out so he'd understand why some people reacted as they have.

I get where you're coming from now... you aren't comparing the two issues, just explaining how different issues can cause people to lose interest in or become frustrated with the game.  Gotcha.

As a straight male I'm completely pleased with my choices. In DA2 the only female that interested me was aveline, I hated isabela and merrill brought out more of an older sibling instinct so it was too odd for me (no offense meant to those who did romance either they just weren't my type) However in DAI I have the two options that appeal to me the most and both work with my qunari inquisitor so even though I have less options the options I have are perfect to me. So apologies to Those who wanted Vivienne and congratulations to those who wanted blackwall, I was rooting for you...mainly because I thought that the chances of race gating my favorite options would go down with the uneven genders, but still rooting for you XD

Correct me if I'm wrong but were you not recently upset about the amount of abilities useable in game? To some people, the romances are just as important an element to them, and to see that they are not getting what they want is likely as distressing to them, as that revelation was for you.

 

Nope.  Puzzled, sure.  Maybe a little cautious.  But my concerns about the game lie elsewhere.  And more about how certain elements interact than content or mechanics themselves go.

 

As far as romances go, two has been a fairly typical number as far as past Bioware games go.  If more were available, that would be great.  But quality>quantity,

As a bisexual female who likes to play elves I'm surprised at how much the list benefitted me, 6 potential LI's, I'm pretty pleased with my options. I really wanted to romance Viv but c'est la vie. Sad to see how disappointed other people are though.

Being a straight male gamer who plays as both lesbian females and straight males I have 4 options in the game that being Cass for my straight male, Sera for my lesbian female and Josephine for both so yeah I am happy with what I have.

While I really wanted Vivienne to be a love interest, I'm happy for those people (like my girlfriend ) who wanted to romance Blackwall.

 

Besides, this means that Cassandra is not race-gated.

I could say I am disappointed about Vivienne not being a LI....well I am, but it just means I'll romance Sera more....also for once it's not the same old demographic who got the most options this time.

 

That said, I still don't understand why Mike's post couldn't have come MUCH sooner...especially since the last announced LI was a "core" LI all along.

Same. I've never (yet) romanced a male character, but I'm totally fine with this ratio.

Actually, I'm pretty excited about it. It's really great to me to see the imbalance favor the female PCs for once. It feels like a little balancing of the scales, and this pleases me.

Oh wait, actually, I did feel super old when I realized that high students this year were born the year I graduated college.  Oh, yeah, and when I realized that I'm the same age that my mother was when I graduated high school........

Last time they did a survey, the average age was 20-25. There are definitely people in the 30-50 range as well though.
