Honestly, I think there is a lot more to Iron Bull he obviously has issues with his religion but still believes it very much, obviously his previous role in the Qun was a toll on him as well. Iron bull does sound way more than just promiscuity although the mentions of his sexuality certainly seem to belabor the point.

Agreed. Bull seems to be a very broken character. I'd say he's more than another 'Promiscuous bisexual trope'.

 

And theirs nothing wrong with bisexual characters being promiscuous in my opinion. It's when that's really their only character trait that I find it to be an issue.

I'm disappointed that we didn't have equal options, but we knew that. I think reactions like this are a little much. If it bothers people so much that their isn't equal options than they need to just get off this forum and not buy the game. Because throwing a fit won't fix it now.

Iron Bull is a promiscuous bisexual trope whether there's "more" to him or not. I think there's "more" to Isabela than just banging, but she's still part of the trope. It doesn't require the character to be totally one note, and I don't think Isabela or Zevran were that, but they're still examples of the trope. The problem is with always having at least one bisexual in the game that will bang everything and playing up that aspect of them. Even in Iron Bull's interview, we're told he'll nail anything that won't break. DA is actually worse at falling back on this trope than even ME is.

Indeed. The intent is more levity than outright disparagement, but I tend to get lazier the more often I post.

I'm still glad Iron Bull is available to the people who will enjoy his content and are enthusiastic about it (as I am about all the romance options that don't necessarily appeal to me).

The issue is more that if the only bisexuals you ever see are promiscuous it sends the message that all bisexuals are that way.

There's nothing wrong with a bisexual being promiscuous. But there are plenty who aren't, and they should be shown too.

You do have a point. But I still see it as progress from the early 2000's where the extent of a bisexual character's personality was "I love sex".

But that comes down to taste, many people when they could choose between several options could not find one they liked. Personally, I really would like to romance a strong Butch short haired warrior woman, but I cannot. There is a difference between being given options and not liking those options based on personal taste.

I believe they said flirting locks you out of other romances pretty early on this time.

But I presume if you get in a romance with someone, then end the romance, you will be able to start one up with another.

It'd be nice if they made it so having an open romance was an option. I've always wanted to play a dwarf warrior who is like, super sweet, but monogamy confuses the hell out of her. But she's not a bad person. As long as you're honest with people, an open relationship isn't "bad". It's fine if some of the potential LIs don't like it, but if others do... *shrug*

Why is that objectively better or worse than buying a game for any other reason? People like Bioware games for different reasons. Nobody's is "better".

I'm straight female who's 22. I was looking forward playing with female qunari. My options would be human who looks like he's older than my dad and Iron Bull who is spying me for organisation that I hate and would love to see me with collar, shackles, lips sewn and tongue cut.

 

That concidered I don't really have options. So I will play with male character and romance Cassandra who is everything I want to be as woman.

 

I guess it comes in the end just luck and your preference of what you like in how much these romance reveals screwed you over ^^

The Asari are kinda their promiscuous Bisexual Race, i mean there are promiscuous bisexuals, and as a Butch lesbian I know what it is like to be called the bad stereotype so i really empathize with promiscuous Bisexuals who are somehow doing their sexuality "wrong". the problem is more how the story fetishizes their promiscuity like with Isabela, Zevran, and now iron Bull. If Jack had healthier relationships, she might be a version of a promiscuous Bisexual portrayed respectfully. telling stories and including various lovers and hijinks but the narrative not really fetishizing it as vital to who she is but that is a stretch.

I felt the options should have been more equaled out so everyone got the same amount but I am happy that two out of the three characters I wanted as LIs are ungated LIs and now I'm torn on which one to romance first since I pictured them both with the same character on the chance only one of them was announced as an LI.

Basing whether your are going to buy a video game that many people have worked hard on for years over something optional and trivial as romance options is not only childish but its also frankly quite stupid. Even if I had 1 option I would still buy the game because I am a gamer and I love this series I enjoy romance in my games but there are plenty of games that are great that don't even have romance in the game or plot. A romance should never be a factor that makes or breaks a game.
