Yeah but Cullen might as well have a sign above his head reading "Love Interest."

And well I wouldn't want to be around if both he and Varric didn't make it.

He doesn't need a sign above his head.  The ground rumbles every time he passes from all the women (and some men) swooning to the ground.

Nah, that only happens to me when Varric passes by. ;D

I'm surprised Cullen was announced as an LI first when he was one of the last to be added.

And that Blackwall was last when he, alongside Cassandra, was the very first DA:I companion we saw.

People had been waiting for Cullen the longest though, since Origins. Maybe that had something to do with it?

As for Blackwall, he may have been one of the first LIs decided upon, but he was one of the last characters to be officially revealed and named. Some characters were confirmed LIs before he even had a name!

So, in light of these news.... I really only need to make male Inquisitor for Dorian/Cassandra romances?

Huh.

Well, good to know. And since I like playing female characters more, this has turned out in my favour. Though it would have been nice to romance Cullen as dwarf, since I am pretty determined to have one for my Warden Surana-based game (since Hawke was human and all that). And it does changes plans for later Inquisitor playthroughs if I want to play out different romances (since making more than four males is useless and Iron Bull is already reserved for my female Adaar).

I also have strong feeling my bisexual female Surana (who was such a player) would be totally jealous of female Lavellan ("How come I didn't have all these choices!?!") :D

A psychic ! Fantastic !!

So, if we ask you about things BioWare have not yet revealed, you will guess the answer and it will be true  :o !!

So:

  • Are 8 abilities for PC really a problem?
  • Will we love the ending to DAI?
  • Will we get to meet 'our' warden and will they have had extensive plastic surgery (or have a helmet)?
  • Who is the NPC flirt romance?
  • How many hours will people spend in multiplayer?

:D

I could attempt, using my instinct and gut feeling.

I am most likely wrong.

No.

Most likely, yes.

Yes they will return, but they will look different as I think it will be difficult make them look the same in the new enigine.

I do not know... but I feel it could be the scout leader.

A long time.

I wouldn't be surprised if the octopuseses too were involved in such dark deeds. They're inherently evil, you see  :)

Kaidan was my favorite Bioware LI.  :(

Zevran would have been, if he didn't tell me up front that he was more into women. I mean, it was pretty obvious Kaidan was, too, but at least he had the tack to keep it to himself.

I know this is an older post, but I wanted to jump into the Zevran discussion, since he's one of my favorite LIs of all time

I remember the first time I got that reply from him with my male Surana.  Poor kid was so crushed that I actually reloaded and went through the conversation again, just avoiding that dialog chain altogether.  Did that with all my remaining male PCs that romanced Zev, too - denial and self-delusion are helpful at times  ;) .  I know other people might not be as crazy as me, but since Zev never officially said that to my m!Wardens, the comment never existed in their worlds  ^_^

I'm really, really excited for the Dorian romance! Since he's written by DG, I know it will be awesome (Zevran and Fenris both received more than their fair share of my Hawkes and Wardens  :D ) -- November can't get here fast enough!

Why do people get so invested in movies that they cry at the end? Why do people like fictional book characters so much that they rage and scream when they are killed off? Why do people love anything? There doesn't have to be a rhyme or reason for it.

See that's understandable because the length of the book and film usually give us time to get to know the characters.

However the questions was when we haven't even met them yetIt's very possible that 10 hours into playing with a certain companion that you'll turn out to despise them. Who knows.

When you have to be an eight foot tall Qunari that's six foot wide to be acknowledged as masculine, there's an issue.

This is a great point.

I feel like it's partially because male characters in videogames (especially soldiers) are so ridiculously hypermasculine that it's built up baseline expectations of what men should be in that media.

Then again, the Bull subverts that trope by being both hypermasculine (to an almost absurd degree, with an eyepatch) and totally fine with banging everything that moves, which is what I find really refreshing about his character.

"Hey, Iron Bull?  You want to go kill stuff?"

"Sure, that sounds awesome!"

I'm not sure if it's actually not one of the tropes for male bisexual - hypermasculine man with huge sex drive.

So, non-straight men exist, but lesbians not? Or even lesbians couldn't resist him?

A lot of lesbians get tripped up by the swooning straight and bi women.

That's the part I like.  That is the main reason why I have wanted a queer Qunari dude LI since before DAO came out (way back when I was like the first and one of the only people in the Sten-For-LI camp).  It's about the subversion.  A hypermasculine character, a character many assume as a typical power-fantasy bro, a character type rarely ever allowed to be non-hetero, is a queer character.  It's that thing about a queer person can be anyone, and any type of person, no group or culture has a monopoly on it, and stereotypes need not apply.  I enjoy that.

Like I said to Allan in the stickied thread, why not put those resources into friendship content instead of making more romances? If they have extra resources, it could be used in a way that everyone could benefit from. Instead of using it for two romances that a select few people have access to, they could have used it for friendship content that everyone would have access to. To me, this seems like the best solution for everyone.

A couple of pages late with this, but it sounded like the devs simply had more stories that they wanted to tell.

Cullen and Solas offered the chance to do two more romance arcs and flesh out those characters a bit more. Maybe those two are different kinds of romances, maybe they offer some new kind of experience that wasn't possible with the existing six.

If everyone already had two options, I don't really see the issue with the writers wanting to add more, given that they had time.

I think seeing this as options being taken away from you is unfortunate - from my perspective, we already get heaps of content and I'm happy for the people that have access to more. More content in the game is generally a good thing, and it'd be churlish to deny the writers their prerogative to explore the story as they see fit.

+1

I'm sure Bioware planned it like that, which is why I love the studio so much. They're making this stuff in an industry that - with a few exceptions - seems stubbornly beholden to traditional gender and sexual norms, and DA:I is a tentpole AAA title to boot.

Hey, if you're going to be pedantic, don't forget the aces. Or do, it's fine, everyone else does.  ;)

Who'm I kidding? I'd swoon just for the fun of it.
